This study analyses Rev. Pang Ji Ihl's missionary work in China from the theological perspective of diakonia, using Kjell Nordstokke's classification of ecclesial, ecumenical, and prophetic dimensions. In the ecclesial dimension, Rev. Pang balanced evangelism and social responsibility, providing material needs and spiritual care for 20,000 Korean compatriots. The holistic dimension showed cultural assimilation through incarnational service, identity restoration, and ecumenical cooperation. Though the prophetic dimension was relatively weak, he fulfilled social responsibilities indirectly within his time's limitations. His diakonia mission embodied Christ's love through an integral way of life.

본 연구는 방지일 목사의 중국 선교사역을 디아코니아 신학적 관점에서 분석하기 위해 노르드스토케(Kjell Nordstokke)의 교회적, 통전적, 예언적 차원을 분석틀로 사용했다. 교회적 차원에서는 복음 전파와 사회적책임의 균형을 추구하며, 죽창(粥廠) 운영과 약 2만 명의 한국 동포 송환과정에서 전인적 돌봄을 실천했다. 통전적 차원에서는 성육신적 섬김을 통한 문화적 동화, 교육을 통한 정체성 회복, 초교파적 협력 등 포괄적인 접근을 보여주었다. 예언적 차원은 상대적으로 약했으나, 당시 상황에서 간접적이고 우회적인 방식으로 사회적 책임을 수행했다. 결론적으로 방지일목사의 디아코니아 선교는 그리스도의 사랑을 실천적으로 구현한 통합적삶의 방식이었다.
