This study aimed to explore the Korean language learning experiences of foreign skilled workers enrolled in Korea Immigration and Integration Program(KIIP), with the goal of improving Korean language education for them through an in-depth and multifaceted approach. To achieve this, in-depth interviews were conducted with five foreign skilled workers who participated in the social integration program, using Narrative Inquiry methods. The data were analyzed through domain analysis and taxonomican alysis. By repeatedly reviewing the transcribed data to understand the meaning of the participants’ KIIP Korean learning experiences, their experiences were categorized into four themes: “essential classes for changing E74 visas,” “class that increased confidence,” “class that relieves stress,” and “class that serves as the foundation for long-term residence in Korea.” The findings suggest that the stories of foreign skilled workers could inform improvements in the KIIP Korean language classes, providing ways for more efficient language learning. This, in turn, could lead to expanded participation in education and positive outcomes that contribute to better adaptation to Korean society and more effective social integration policies. Additionally, using the results of this study to develop plans for improving KIIP Korean language education could provide concrete and practical guidance for designing classes that accommodate the learners' abilities and learning pace.

본 연구에서는 사회통합프로그램에서 한국어를 학습하고 있는 외국인 숙련인력의 한국어 학습 경험을 심층적이고 다면적으로 고찰해 이들을 위한 효과적인 한국어교육 개선 방안을 제안하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 내러티브 탐구 방법을 사용하여 사회통합 프로그램에 참여한 외국인 숙련인력 다섯 명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하였으며 자 료 분석은 영역 분석과 분류 분석 방법을 이용하였다. 참여자 다섯 명의 KIIP 한국어 학습 경험의 의미를 분석하기 위하여 면담한 후 전사한 자료를 읽고 또 읽는 과정을 반 복한 결과 참여자들이 느낀 사회통합프로그램 참여 경험은 ‘E74 비자 변경을 위한 필수 수업’, ‘자신감을 높여준 수업’, ‘스트레스를 풀어 주는 수업’, ‘한국 장기 거주의 발판이 되는 수업’과 같이 네 종류로 분류할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 밝혀진 외국인 숙련인력의 이야기를 통해 KIIP 한국어 수업의 개선점을 제시하고 이들이 한국어를 더 효율적으로 배울 수 있는 방안을 마련해 준다면 이들의 교육 참여가 더 확대될 것이며 이들의 한국 사회 적응과 효율적인 사회통합 정책에 기여하는 긍정적인 효과를 얻을 수 있을 것이 다. 또한 본 연구 결과를 가지고 KIIP 한국어교육 개선 방안을 마련한다면 이들의 학습 능력과 배우는 속도를 고려한 수업을 설계하는 데에도 구체적이고 실질적인 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.
