This study attempted to verify how alcohol dependence affects spouse violence in male seniors and whether depression mediates between them. For this purpose, this study extracted 548 men from the 16th year survey data of the Korea Welfare Panel jointly surveyed and distributed by Seoul National University and the Korea Health and Social Research Institute in 2022 and used them for analysis. The regression analysis method of SPSS was used to verify the mediating effect of depression between alcohol dependence and spouse violence. As a result of the study, first, it was found that the more elderly men depend on alcohol, the more severe the spouse violence. Second, it was found that the more elderly men relied on alcohol, the more severe their depression was. Third, it was found that the more depressed the male elderly, the more severe the spouse violence. Fourth, it was verified that depression in the elderly male mediates between alcohol dependence and spouse violence. Based on these studies, several discussions and implications were suggested, including specialized programs and promotion of professional and intervention skills to reduce spousal violence by lowering depression in elderly men.

본 연구는 남성 노인을 대상으로 알코올의존이 배우자폭력에 어떠한 영향이 있는지, 그리고 우울은 이들 간을 매개하는지를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 서울 대학교와 한국보건사회연구원가 2022년에 공동으로 배포한 한국복지패널 16차년도 조사자료 중 남성 548명을 추출하여 분석에 사용하였다. 알코올의존과 배우자폭력 간 우울이 매개효과 검증을 위해 SPSS의 회귀분석방법을 활용하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 남 성 노인이 알코올에 의존할수록 배우자폭력이 심한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 남성 노인 이 알코올에 의존할수록 우울이 심한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 남성 노인이 우울할수록 배우자폭력이 심한 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 남성 노인의 우울은 알코올의존과 배우자 폭력 간을 매개하는 것을 검증하였다. 이러한 연구를 토대로, 남성 노인의 우울 낮춤을 통해 배우자폭력을 낮출 수 있는 특화된 프로그램과 전문적 기술 및 개입기술 증진 등 몇 가지 논의와 함의를 제언하였다.
