This study proposed a plan to develop an exhibition of the Children’s Museum attached to the Suwoon Memorial Hall under the theme of Donghak and Suwoon Choe Je-u, and to increase the effectiveness of viewing with content using new media technology. Through this, it was intended to convey the value and meaning of Donghak to children and to help revitalize the use of the Suwoon Memorial Hall. First of all, after understanding the characteristics of the Children’s Museum, the only children’s exhibition space in Korea on Donghak, the theme of the exhibition and contents used were identified. Based on this, it was referred to in selecting the exhibition theme and contents used by the Children’s Museum. This Children’s Museum consists of exhibitions and related programs. The exhibition was designed to understand the exhibition theme of the Suwoon Memorial Museum from a children’s perspective, and the related program consisted of contents about Bang Jung-hwan, who played a leading role in the establishment of Children’s Day. Both the exhibition and related programs suggested content using new media so that children could easily and interestingly experience Donghak and its historical events, thereby inducing interest in viewing and looking forward to revisiting in the future. This study will help Suwoon Memorial Hall and Donghak Education Training Center develop into an important center for Donghak education, and will be a good model for building a children’s museum with topics related to Donghak.

본 연구는 동학과 수운 최제우를 주제로 한 수운기념관 부설 어린이박물관(가칭)의 전시를 개발하고, 뉴미디어 기술을 활용한 콘텐츠로 관람의 효과를 높이는 방안을 제안하였다. 이를 통해 어린이들에게 동학의 가치와 의미를 전달하고, 수운기념관의 이용을 활성화하는 데 도움이 되고자 하였다. 먼저 어린이박물관의 특성을 이해한 후, 국내 유일의 동학을 주제로 한 어린이 전시 공간인 동학농민혁명기념관 어린이전시실의 전시 주제와 활용 콘텐츠를 파악하였다. 이를 바탕으로 본 어린이박물관의 전시 주제 및 활용 콘텐츠를 선정하는 데 참고하였다. 본 어린이박물관은 전시와 연계 프로그램으로 구성하였다. 전시는 母 기관인 수운기념관의 전시 주제를 어린이의 시각에서 이해할 수 있도록 기획하였고, 연계 프로그램은 ‘어린이날’ 제정에 주도적 역할을 한 소파 방정환 선생에 관한 내용으로 구성하였다. 전시와 연계 프로그램 모두 뉴미디어를 활용한 콘텐츠를 제안하여 어린이들이 동학과 그 역사적 사건을 쉽고 재미있게 경험할 수 있게 하였고, 이를 통해 관람의 흥미를 유도하고 향후 재방문을 기대할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구는 수운기념관 및 동학교육수련원이 동학 교육의 중심지로 발전하는 데 도움이 되며, 동학에 관한 주제로 어린이박물관을 건립할 때 좋은 모델이 될 것으로 기대한다.
