This study aims to analyze the issues related to the descriptions of Vietnam in high school East Asian History textbooks and to propose directions for improvement. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, Korea and Vietnam have developed cooperative relationships in various fields, including politics, economics, society, and culture. Within this context, the East Asian History textbooks include Vietnam alongside Korea, China, and Japan, emphasizing the historical relationships and characteristics of East Asia. However, the textbooks exhibit several issues concerning Vietnam's history, such as spatial reduction, insufficient timelines, and errors in terminology and name usage. In particular, the content of Vietnam’s history is confined to certain events, with a tendency toward reduced coverage over time. This study conducts a comparative analysis of four textbooks compiled under the 2015 revised curriculum, identifying errors in descriptions and map annotations and suggesting measures for improvement. The findings aim to contribute to enhancing the balance and understanding of East Asian history education.

본 논문은 고등학교 『동아시아사』 교과서에서 베트남 관련 서술의 문제점을 분석하고 개선 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 한국과 베트남은 1992년 수교 이래 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화 등 다양한 분야에서 협력 관계를 발전시켜 왔다. 이러한 양국의 관계 속에서 『동아시아사』 교과서는 한국, 중국, 일본과 함께 베트남을 포함하여 동아시아의 역사적 관계와 특성을 교육하는 데 의의를 두고 있다. 그러나 교과서에서 베트남사의 서술은 공간적 축소와 연표의 미흡, 용어 및 호칭의 표기 오류 등 여러 문제가 존재한다. 특히, 베트남사의 내용은 일부 사건에 국한되며, 서술의 분량도 점차 축소되는 경향을 보이고 있다. 본 연구는 2015 개정 교육과정에 따라 편찬된 4종의 교과서를 비교 분석하여 서술과 지도 표기에서 나타나는 오류를 확인하고, 개선 방안을 제안하였다. 이를 통해 동아시아 지역 역사 교육의 균형과 이해를 증진시키는 데 기여하고자 한다.
