The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effects of human rights awareness and attitudes in the process by which key environmental factors of human rights respect (family, school, society, and the internet) perceived by school-age children influence their awareness of climate change. To this end, some data from the '2023 Survey on the Human Rights Status of Children and Adolescents' conducted by the National Youth Policy Institute (NYPI) were utilized. A structural equation model was used to examine the structural relationships and mediating effects among the variables using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS20.0, with a sample of 2,678 elementary school students. The main research findings are as follows. First, a statistically significant positive correlation was found among all the study variables. Second, while the key environmental factors of human rights respect (family, school, society, and the internet) did not directly influence climate change awareness, human rights awareness and attitudes fully mediated their effect. The results of this study highlight the importance of human rights awareness and attitudes in shaping climate change awareness among school-age children and suggest the need for educational and policy support for human rights respect.

본 논문은 학령기 아동이 지각하는 인권 존중의 주요 환경 요인(가정, 학교, 사회, 인터넷)이 기후변화 인 식에 영향을 주는 과정에서 인권 의식 및 태도의 매개효과를 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책 연구원의 ‘2023 아동·청소년 인권실태 조사’에서 사용한 데이터 일부를 활용하였다. 초등학생 2,678명을 대상으로 SPSS 23.0과 AMOS 20.0을 이용하여 구조방정식으로 변인 들 간 구조적 관계와 매개효과를 알아보았다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모든 연구변인들 간의 통계적으로 유의미한 정적 상관관계가 나타났다. 둘째, 인권 존중의 주요 환경 요인(가정, 학교, 사회, 인터넷)은 기후변화 인식에 직접적으로 영향을 주진 않지만, 인권 의식 및 태도가 완전 매개하여 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 학령기 아동의 기후변화 인식 형성에서 인 권 의식과 태도의 중요성을 확인하였으며, 인권 존중을 위한 교육적·정책적 지원의 필요성을 시사한다.
