This study examines secondary school teachers’ perceptions and implementation levels of digital and AI education competencies. A survey was conducted with 152 secondary school teachers, and the data were analyzed using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA). The findings indicate that while teachers generally recognize the high importance of digital and AI education competencies, their implementation levels remain relatively low. The areas requiring the most urgent improvement, as indicated by the largest gaps between importance and implementation, include “digital and AI-based instructional design,” “data-driven research support,” “subject-specific educational resource development,” and “curriculum evaluation and reflection.” On the other hand, areas such as “technical support for overcoming challenges”, “integration of digital-based educational innovation, and ”ethical AI practices“ were identified as maintaining both high importance and implementation levels, suggesting they should be sustained. This study provides recommendations for teacher training and policy support to enhance digital and AI education competencies. It underscores the necessity of equipping teachers with essential skills to adapt to the evolving educational paradigm and technological advancements in education.

본 연구는 중고등학교 교사들의 디지털·AI 교육역량에 대한 중요도 인식과 실행 수준을 알아보고자 한다. 이를 위해 중고등학교 교사 152명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고 IPA(Importance-Performance Analysis)를 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 중고등학교 교사들은 전반적으로 디지털·AI 교육역량의 중요성을 높게 인식하고 있으나, 실행도는 상대적으로 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 중요도 와 실행도 간의 차이가 가장 크게 나타나 우선적으로 개선이 필요한 영역은 디지털·AI 교수-학습 설계, 데이터 기반 연구 지원, 교과별 전문 교육자원 개발, 교육과정 평가 및 성찰 영역으로 나타났다. 반면, 기술적 애로사항 해소 지원, 디지털 기반 교육혁신 반영, 디지털·AI 윤리 실천 영역은 중요도와 실행도가 모두 높은 수준으로 유지가 필요한 영역으로 확인되었다. 본 연구는 디지털·AI 교육역량 강 화를 위한 교사 연수 및 정책적 지원 방향을 제시하며, 미래 교육 환경 변화에 대비한 교사의 디지털·AI 교육역량 개발이 필수적임을 시사한다.
