The 『Okrumong』, a Korean classical novel, is about Moon changsung, a celestial figure, who is reborn as a human being through dreams, meets five women who have been connected from the celestial world one after another, loves each other, and enjoys wealth and movies with them. These relationships are expressed as ‘Jigi(知己)’, and it is a story that Moonchangsung makes love by treating five women like true friends, not just objects of desire. In this article, I re-examined the meaning of ‘Jigi’ in this work through two modern love theories. Through this, it was confirmed that love is an effort to get to know the other seriously, a decision to share life and sorrow, and an active act, including passion. I think the exploration of this article has some connection with the love that modern people are seeking today. This article is expected to serve as a springboard for modern readers to understand classical novels more meaningfully.

한국 고전소설 『옥루몽』의 양창곡과 강남홍은 사랑하는 사이로서 시 종일관 서로를 ‘지기(知己)’라 명명한다. 이 글에서는 이 작품에 빈번하게 등장하는 지기의 의미와 사랑의 양상을 분석함으로써, 작품이 표방한 사 랑의 가치를 재조명하고 오늘날의 현대적․교육적 의미를 밝히고자 하 였다. 이를 위해 작품에 등장하는 두 인물의 사랑과 실천, 그들이 언급하 는 ‘지기’의 의미를 현대의 두 사랑 이론을 통해 분석해 보았으며, 이를 통해 지기로서의 사랑은 ‘열정’을 포함하면서도 상대를 진지하게 알아가 고, 생사고락을 함께하는 결심을 포함하며, 능동적인 행위를 뜻한다는 것을 확인했다. 또한 오늘날 현대인들이 추구하는 사랑과의 비교를 통해 『옥루몽』의 지기로서의 사랑이 오늘날에 귀감이 될 만한 가치과 교육적 의의를 지님을 밝혔다.
