The purpose of this study is to examine the representation and social acceptance of Zainichi in video media produced by Japanese society, focusing on private broadcasting TV programs after the 1988 Seoul Olympics. To this end, we will first examine the characteristics of the times and broadcasts related to Zainichi by insighting Japan's TV broadcasting and programs related to Zainichi by period. The subject of this study is “Give it to Grandma! My Gold Medal” and “Han Chang-woo’s 50 Years of Living in Kyoto by the First Generation of Koreans in Pachinko”, which were produced in 1996, depicting the success stories of Zainichi. This study aims to pursue a harmonious future while understanding the social acceptance of Zainichi that has been built in Japanese society, even if the relationship between Korea and Japan changes constantly in the future.

본 연구는 일본 사회에서 생산된 영상미디어 속 재일코리안의 표상과 사회적 수 용을 1988년 서울올림픽 이후, 민영방송 TV 프로그램을 중심으로 살펴보는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 일본 공중파 방송의 재일코리안 관련 프로그램을 시대별로 통찰하여, 당시의 시대적 특징과 재일코리안 관련 방송들을 분석하였다. 그리고 서울올림픽 이후, 일본 방송이 재일코리안을 차별과 배제의 이미지에서 벗어나 사 회적 성장과 성공 신화들에 대한 프로그램을 어떻게 제작하였는지를 고찰하였다. 연구 대상은 재일코리안 사회를 ’88 서울올림픽 참가를 위한 국가대표 선수들과 응원단을 통해서 그려진 <할머니에게 드려! 나의 금메달>과 재일코리안의 사업 성공담을 그린 <파친코 1세대 재일한국인의 50년 교토거주 한창우씨>이다. 재일 코리안 관련 프로그램은 올림픽을 기점으로 이전의 ‘차별’, ‘가난’, ‘밀항’, ‘불법체 류’ 등 부정적인 이미지에서 ‘올림픽 개최’, ‘성공한 기업인’ 등의 긍정적인 이미지 가 등장하기 시작하였다. 본 연구에서는 2000년대 이전 일본 방송 프로그램을 조 명·분석하여 재일코리안의 위상을 어떻게 정립시켰는지를 고찰하고자 하였다.
