This study examines the impact of C University's student patrols on reducing female students' fear of crime, aiming to assess campus security measures' effectiveness and suggest improvements. Utilizing the Beck Anxiety Inventory(BAI), female students were categorized into normal, mild anxiety, and severe anxiety groups, followed by in-depth interviews. Findings indicated that perceptions of the student patrol varied with anxiety levels, highlighting the need for crime anxiety mitigation and proactive security initiatives. The study confirms that student patrol activities are a key campus security strategy, providing psychological comfort and deterring crime. However, limitations such as limited personnel, standardized patrol methods, and lack of expertise were identified. Therefore, the study recommends introducing professional training programs, improving patrol methods, strengthening integration with existing security systems, and promoting security activities to build trust. By presenting specific directions for enhancing campus security efforts, this research offers practical and policy-oriented foundational data for creating a safer university environment.

본 연구는 C 대학의 대학생 순찰대 활동이 여학생들의 범죄 불안감 완화에 미치는 영향을 분석하여, 캠퍼스 내 치안 활동의 효과와 개선 방향을 탐구하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 벡 불안 척도(Beck Anxiety Inventory, BAI)를 활용해 여학생들을 정상, 가벼운 불안, 중증 불안의 세 그룹으로 분류하고, 각 그룹을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰(In–depth Interview)를 수행하였다. 연구 결과, 대학생 순찰대 활동에 대한 인식은 불안 수준별로 차이를 보였으며, 이는 범죄 불안감 완화와 예방적 치안 활동의 필요성을 입증하는 중요한 자료로 나타났다. 정상 그룹은 순찰대의 존재를 기본적인 안전장치로 인식하면서도, 그 필요성에 대해 상대적으로 낮은 관심을 보였다. 가벼운 불안 그룹은 성범죄 예방 효과를 인정하면서도 순찰 방식의 다변화와 대응 능력 강화를 요구하였다. 중증 불안 그룹은 순찰 빈도 증가, 취약 지역 상주, 전문성 제고 등 구체적이고 실질적인 개선안을 제안하며, 대학생 순찰대의 중요성을 가장 강하게 강조했다. 연구 결과를 통해 대학생 순찰대 활동은 심리적 안정감 증진과 범죄 억제 효과를 제공하는 주요한 캠퍼스 치안 전략임이 확인되었다. 그러나 제한된 인력, 정형화된 순찰 방식, 전문성 부족 등의 한계가 지적되었다. 따라서 본 연구는 전문적 훈련 프로그램 도입, 순찰 방식 개선, 기존 보안 시스템과의 연계 강화, 치안 활동에 대한 홍보 및 신뢰 구축의 필요성을 제언한다. 본 연구는 캠퍼스 치안 활동의 개선 방향을 구체적으로 제시함으 로써, 대학 내 안전한 환경 조성을 위한 실천적이고 정책적인 기초 자료를 제공하는데 기여하고자 한다.
