Recent studies on addition and subtraction learning emphasize the process in which students explore and reason about efficient computational strategies. Accordingly, this study reconstructed the addition and subtraction unit for second-grade students to implement lessons that emphasize the compensation strategy in addition and subtraction and analyzed the instructional cases. To achieve this, instructional and learning strategies emphasizing the compensation strategy were derived based on prior research, and lessons were implemented accordingly. Teachers utilized visual models and supplementary representations appropriate to students' proficiency levels to emphasize the concept of the compensation strategy, allowing students to represent it algebraically. As a result, students were able to transform addition and subtraction problems into equivalent equations that facilitated easier computation, enabling them to solve complex calculations more efficiently. Based on these findings, this study discusses implications for instructional practices that the compensation strategy in addition and subtraction.

최근 덧셈과 뺄셈 학습에서 학생들이 효율적인 계산 전략을 탐색하고 추론하는 과 정이 강조되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초등학교 2학년 학생들을 대상으로 덧셈 과 뺄셈 단원을 재구성하여 덧셈과 뺄셈의 보상 전략을 강조한 수업을 구현하고 그 수업 사례를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 선행 연구를 바탕으로 덧셈과 뺄셈의 보상 전략을 강조한 교수·학습 방안을 도출한 후, 수업을 실행하였다. 교사는 덧셈과 뺄셈의 보상 전략의 의미를 강조하기 위해 시각적 모델을 활용하거나 학생들의 수 준을 고려한 보조적인 표현을 사용하여 이를 수식으로 나타낼 수 있게 하였다. 그 결과, 학생들은 덧셈과 뺄셈 문제를 자신이 계산하기 편한 형태의 등식으로 변형하 여 복잡한 계산을 보다 효율적으로 해결할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으 로 덧셈과 뺄셈의 보상 전략을 강조하여 지도하는 방안에 관한 구체적인 시사점을 논의하였다.
