Since 1953, North Korea has implemented various measures to collect, study, preserve, and rewrite classical materials. This study examines Folk Tales of Our Country (1958), North Korea’s definitive folk tale collection from the 1950s. It also reviews previous folk tale collections and explores the rewriting of Folk Tales of Our Country. Through this analysis, it was observed that Folk Tales of Our Country referenced Park Young-man’s Folk Tales Collection. The study examined the similarities and differences between the folk tale collections of Tanaka Umekichi, Nakamura Ryohei, Shim Ui-rin, and Park Young-man, published after the 1920s and Folk Tales of Our Country. We particularly analyzed Shim Ui-rin’s Oezzok stories and Park Young-man’s Jaguldae stories, which depict an abused servant solving the problem and found that Folk Tales of Our Country was influenced by Jaguldae stories. It referenced Young-man’s Jaguldae stories, with the titular character Jaguldae’s name changed to “Dolsse” and “Yangban” changed to “Landowner.” Park Young-man’s The Tale of a Servant and a Yangban was transformed into The Tale of a Servant and a Landowner. Previous studies have researched on individual folk tale collections, but in the future, a comprehensive review of their interrelatedness is needed. Despite the limitations of previous research, this study focuses on major folk tale collections and analyzes their interconnected aspects.

북한에서는 1953년부터 고전을 수집하여 이를 계승 발전시킬 대책을 논의했는데, 그 과정에서 옛이야기 및 동화의 다시쓰기가 주목되었다. 이 논문에서는 1950년대 북한을 대표하는 옛이야기집 『우리 나라 옛’이야기』(1958)의 원전을 탐색하였다. 주요 선행 동화집과 대조하여 그 대응 관계를 확인함으로써 1958년판이 선행 동화집 중에서 박영만 동화집을 다수 참고했음을 확인하였다. 이 논문에서는 1920년대 이후에 간행된 다나카, 나카무라, 심의린, 박영만 동화집과 『우리 나라 옛’이야기』의 공통점과 차이점을 고찰하였다. 학대받는 결핍자가 문제를 해결하는 심의린의 <외쪽의 꾀>와 박영만의 <자글대 이야기>의 내용을 분석하여, 『우리 나라 옛’이야기』가 <자글대 이야기>의 영향을 받았음을 명확히 하였다. 『우리 나라 옛’이야기』는 <자글대 이야기>의 후반부를 참고했지만, 등장인물 자글대가 돌쇠가 되고, ‘좌수 영감’이 ‘지주’로 바뀌었다. 박영만이 채록한 ‘머슴 자글대와 좌수영감 이야기’를 활용하여, ‘머슴(돌쇠․꾀동이)과 지주 이야기’로 변형시킨 것이다. 선행연구에서는 개별 동화집에 관한 연구가 축적돼왔지만, 앞으로는 그 관련 양상에 대한 종합적인 비교 검토가 필요하다. 이 논문에서는 선행연구가 부족한 상황에서 그 주요 동화집에 한정하여 그 관련 양상을 분석하였다.
