This study attempted to understand the experiences of marriage immigrant women who are other in Korean society as actors and subjects of learning, not passive objects, by linguizing them through life history research methods. The life process of marriage immigrant women was sampled and analyzed simultaneously by migration period, that is, the cases of marriage migrant women of settlement period of 15 years or more, mid-term marriage migrant women of 10 years or less, and early marriage migrant women of 5 years or less. As a result of the analysis, women in the early stages of marriage migration under 5 years are still confused in the culture that they feel is quite different from their home country and are considered absurd. However, at some point, they find themselves becoming accustomed to the culture. And they were not passive others, but independent actors, and were already nomadic subjects. Efforts from the beginning become a 'constitution adapted to Korea' that is more familiar to Korea than their home country after 10 years or more. Women in the late marriage migration, 20 years ahead, are now reaching an ontological realization that is important to what kind of person they are not from. The life event of migration was itself the process of becoming a human through cultural learning beyond simply crossing borders or language learning through marriage.

이 연구는 한국사회에서 타자화 되어있는 결혼이주여성들의 경험을 생애사 연구방법을 통해 언어화시킴으로써 그들을 수동적 대상이 아닌 학습의 행위자이자 주체로서 이해하고 자 하였다. 결혼이주여성 생애과정을 이주 시기별 즉, 이주 15년 이상의 정착기 결혼이주 여성과 10년 이상의 중기 결혼이주여성, 5년 이하의 이주 초기 결혼이주여성의 사례를 동 시에 표집하여 비교 분석하였다. 분석결과 5년이하 결혼이주 초기 여성들은 아직은 모국과 는 사뭇 다른 한국의 예의범절, 의례적인 자신들이 느끼기에 어쩌면 부조리하다고 여기는 문화 속에서 혼란스러운 상태이다. 하지만 어느 사이 그 문화 속에 길들여져 가는 자신을 발견해간다. 그리고 이들은 수동적인 타자가 아닌 주체적인 행위자이며, 이미 유목적 주체 였다. 초기부터의 노력들은 10년차 이상이 되면 모국보다 한국이 더 익숙한 ‘한국에 적응 된 체질’이 되어간다. 20년을 앞둔 결혼이주 후기의 여성들은 이젠 어떤 ‘나라’의 사람 이 아니라 어떤 사람이냐가 중요한 존재론적 깨달음에 이르는 시기가 되어간다. 이주라는 생애 사건은 단순히 결혼을 통한 국경넘기나 언어학습을 넘어 문화적 학습을 통한 인간이 되어가는 과정 그 자체였다.
