This paper aims to compare the concepts of Lebenswelt (lifeworld) in the works of Martin Heidegger and Jürgen Habermas, and to expand these concepts into a new understanding of natural science and technology from a theological perspective. First, the concept of the lifeworld in Heidegger's philosophy is examined. Heidegger critiques traditional ontology and seeks to explore the essence of being through Dasein (being-there). According to him, Dasein reveals the true meaning of existence through inauthenticity, authenticity, temporality, and historicity. However, this approach creates a dichotomy between the lifeworld and the natural scientific world, revealing a negative stance toward technological civilization. By prioritizing the lifeworld as fundamental and the natural scientific world as secondary, Heidegger’s approach remains trapped in a hierarchical structure. In contrast, Habermas distinguishes the lifeworld into the objective world, social world, and subjective world, emphasizing the independence and interdependence between these spheres. He advocates for communicative rationality and seeks consensus and harmony, acknowledging the positive aspects of science and technology. Habermas proposes a horizontal structure where science, ethics, and art coexist equally within the lifeworld, underscoring the importance of a pluralistic and integrative approach. His perspective respects the plurality of the lifeworld and provides a philosophical framework for embracing the potential of technological civilization in an open manner. This paper critiques Heidegger’s ontology for expanding the horizon of philosophical thought but still remaining limited by a dichotomous mindset, arguing that Habermas’s communicative rationality can address these limitations. Furthermore, the discussion is extended into a theological context, seeking a new understanding of natural science and technology based on Christian stewardship. As stewards, Christians are called to embrace Habermas’s insights and develop the created world harmoniously in accordance with divine will, integrating the advancement of science and technology with God’s creation order and human moral responsibility. In conclusion, this paper proposes that the philosophical understanding of the lifeworld and technological civilization can be expanded beyond a singular ontological perspective into a pluralistic and communicative approach, which, when combined with a theological stewardship concept, contributes to shaping a responsible attitude toward science and technology.

본 논문은 마르틴 하이데거(Martin Heidegger)와 위르겐 하버마스(Jürgen Habermas) 의 생활세계 개념을 비교하고, 이를 신학적 관점에서 자연과학 기술에 대한 새로운 이해로 확장하는 데 목적을 둔다. 먼저 하이데거의 생활세계 개념을 고찰한다. 하이데 거는 전통적 존재론의 한계를 비판하며, 현존재(Dasein)를 통해 존재의 본질을 탐구하 고자 했다. 하이데거에 따르면, 현존재는 비본래성, 본래성, 시간성, 역사성을 통해 존 재의 진정한 의미를 탈은폐할 수 있다. 그러나 이러한 접근은 생활세계와 자연과학적 세계를 이분법적으로 대립시키며 기술 문명에 대해 부정적 시각을 드러낸다. 특히, 생 활세계를 근본적이고 우선적인 것으로, 자연과학적 세계를 부차적인 것으로 규정함으 로써 수직적 위계질서를 벗어나지 못했다는 한계를 지닌다. 이와 대조적으로 하버마 스는 생활세계를 객관세계, 사회세계, 주관세계로 구분하고, 이들 영역 간의 독립성과 상호의존성을 강조한다. 그는 의사소통적 합리성을 바탕으로 합의와 조화를 추구하며, 과학기술의 긍정적 측면을 인정하고자 한다. 하버마스는 생활세계에서 과학, 도덕, 예 술이 대등하게 공존하는 수평적 구조를 제안하며, 단일한 관점이 아닌 다원적이고 통 합적인 접근의 중요성을 역설한다. 그의 관점은 생활세계의 다원성을 존중하며 기술문명의 가능성을 열린 태도로 수용할 수 있는 철학적 틀을 제공한다. 본 논문은 하이 데거의 존재론이 철학적 사유의 지평을 확장했으나 여전히 이분법적 사고의 한계를 지니고 있음을 비판하며, 하버마스의 의사소통적 합리성이 이를 보완할 수 있음을 논 증한다. 나아가 이러한 논의를 신학적 관점으로 확장하여, 기독교의 청지기 사상에 근 거한 새로운 자연과학 기술 이해를 모색한다. 청지기로서 기독교인은 하버마스의 통 찰을 수용하여 하나님의 뜻에 부합하는 방식으로 피조세계를 각 영역 논리에 따라 조 화롭게 발전시켜야 한다. 이는 자연과학 기술의 발전을 하나님의 창조 질서와 인간의 도덕적 책임을 연결하는 통합적 관점으로 재구성하는 데 기여한다. 결론적으로 본 논문 은 생활세계와 기술 문명에 대한 철학적 이해가 단일한 존재론적 관점을 넘어 다원적이고 소통적인 접근을 통해 확장될 수 있음을 제안하며, 이러한 통합적 관점이 신학 적 청지기 사상과 결합하여 자연과학 기술에 대한 책임 있는 태도를 형성하는데 기여할 수 있음을 주장한다.
