This study investigates whether dream analysis, based on Carl G. Jung's dream analysis theory, can facilitate religious experiences in modern individuals. A literature review methodology was employed. Religious experiences, defined as encounters with the ultimate reality—imbued with sacred attributes or psychological reality within the unconscious—play a crucial role in fostering existential awareness and inspiring individuals to lead renewed lives. These experiences are significant for supporting the holistic well-being of modern individuals. Paradoxically, however, little research has been conducted on the methods through which religious experiences can be facilitated. The profound psychological experience inherent in religious experiences, which involves engagement with psychological reality, underscores their significance. Although the unconscious is readily accessible in daily life, studies on promoting religious experiences through its analysis remain scarce. This study emphasizes the need to explore how analyzing the unconscious can support the holistic well-being of modern individuals. The unconscious manifests in dreams, which are regarded as its essence, while psychological reality lies at the core of the collective unconscious. These perspectives highlight the importance of examining the potential of Jung's dream analysis theory for promoting religious experiences. Jung's dream analysis theory aims to achieve the growth of personality by bringing the personal unconscious in dreams and the psychological reality within the collective unconscious into consciousness. By focusing on the consciousness of archetypes within the collective unconscious, dream analysis can contribute to facilitating religious experiences for modern individuals. This paper first reflects on Jung's dream analysis theory to explore dream analysis. Subsequently, it examines the concept of religious experiences and concludes by investigating the potential for promoting religious experiences through dream analysis, with a focus on the utilization of Jung's dream analysis theory.

본 논문은 칼 융(Carl G. Jung)의 꿈분석 이론을 활용한 꿈의 분석이 현대인들의 종교적 경험 촉진에 있어 도움을 줄 수 있는지를 살펴보는 연구이다. 본 논문은 문헌 연구 방법론을 적용하였다. 인간의 경험 영역에는 종교적 경험이라는 것이 존재한다. 종교적 경험은 거룩한 속성을 지닌 궁극적 실재 혹은 무의식 속 궁극적 실재(심리적 실재)와의 만남을 기반으로 한 인간의 경험으로 정의되는데 이 경험은 경험자에게 실 존적으로 자신의 존재에 대하여 자각할 수 있도록 돕는 역할을 한다. 그리고 경험자 로 하여금 새로운 삶을 살아가게 할 새로운 삶의 원천으로서도 작용한다. 종교적 경 험은 인간, 특히 현대인들의 온전한 삶의 상태와 온전한 삶의 영위를 돕기 위해 요청 되는 매우 의미 있고도 중요한 경험이라고 볼 수 있는데 아이러니하게도 어떠한 방식 을 통해 종교적 경험을 이룰 수 있는지에 관한 연구는 아직까지 이루어지지 않고 있 다. 무엇보다 이 경험의 의미에 의식자아와 심리적 실재와의 심층적 심리경험이 내재 해 있고, 또한 무의식은 일상에서 어렵지 않게 접할 수 있는 요소임에도 불구하고 무 의식의 분석을 통한 종교적 경험 촉진 가능성 고찰 연구는 아직까지 이뤄지지 않고있다. 즉, 결론적으로 말해 연구자는 현대인들의 온전한 삶의 영위를 돕기 위해 무의 식의 분석을 통한 종교적 경험 촉진 가능성 고찰 연구가 필요하다고 본다. 특히, 무의 식은 꿈에 나타나고 꿈은 무의식 그 자체라는 점과 심적 실재는 집단적 무의식의 중 심에 위치하고 있다는 측면에서 볼 때 융의 꿈분석 이론의 성찰과 활용을 중심으로 한 꿈의 분석을 통한 종교적 경험 촉진 가능성 고찰 연구가 필요하다고 생각된다. 융 의 꿈분석 이론은 꿈속 개인적 무의식 요소들의 의식화 작업과 심리적 실재가 위치한 집단적 무의식 요소들의 의식화 작업을 통한 꿈꾼 사람의 전인적인 인격의 성장을 지 향하기 때문이다. 즉, 꿈속 집단적 무의식 원형의 탐색을 통한 의식화에 초점을 두기 에 융의 꿈분석 이론을 활용한 꿈의 분석을 통해 현대인들은 심리적 실재와의 접촉 경험인 심층적 심리경험의 세계로 가까이 다가갈 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 우 선, 융의 꿈분석 이론 성찰을 중심으로 꿈의 분석에 관하여 살펴보고자 한다. 다음으 로 종교적 경험의 의미에 대하여 살펴보고자 한다. 마지막으로 융의 꿈분석 이론의 활용을 중심으로 꿈의 분석을 통한 현대인들의 종교적 경험 촉진 가능성에 대하여 살 펴보고 본 논문을 마칠 것이다.
