This study focuses on the education of newly appointed police officers, especially the education and training of new police officers currently being conducted at the Central Police Academy, to identify problems in the current education system and suggest improvement measures for the future of our country. We aim to contribute to the development of police education for new police officers. We looked at the police security education and training systems in Korea, the United States, and Japan, and focused on improving them by focusing on the problems of lack of awareness of the importance of the police security field, the absence of specialized police security education institutions, and lack of expertise in education institutions and professors. A plan was presented. In order to systematically improve the professionalism of police security, it is necessary to establish a system to improve the quality of education and training, as well as continuous efforts to improve the quality and diversification. While emphasizing the importance of police security, it is necessary to provide education and training for police security work. We looked into the problems and improvement plans and sought efficient ways to advance toward advanced security. We hope that this study will be used as basic data for preparing various policy alternatives through follow-up research and development.

본 연구는 신규 입직 경찰관에 대한 신임 교육, 특히 그중에서도 현재 중앙경찰학교에서 행하여지고 있는 신임 순경의 교육훈련에 초점을 맞추어 현재의 교육제도 문제점들을 파 악하고 그에 대한 개선 방안을 제시한 연구로 우리나라의 향후 신임 순경에 대한 경찰 교육의 발전에 이바지하고자 한다. 우리나라와 미국, 일본과의 경찰 경호교육훈련제도에 대해서 살펴보고 경찰 경호 분야 의 중요성에 대한 인식 부족과 경찰 경호 전문 교육기관의 부재, 교육기관과 교수요원의 전문성 결여에 대한 문제점을 중점적으로 다루어 개선방안을 제시하였다. 경찰 경호의 전문성을 체계적으로 향상하기 위해서는 교육훈련의 질적 향상을 위한 시 스템의 정립과 함께 내실화 및 다양화 방안에 대한 지속적인 노력이 필요하다. 경찰 경호 에 대한 중요성을 강조함과 동시에 경찰 경호업무 교육훈련의 문제점과 개선 방안에 대해 서 살펴보고 선진경호로 나아갈 수 있는 효율적인 방안을 모색하였으며 추후에 후속 연구 및 개발을 통해 다양한 정책대안 마련의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있기를 기대한다.
