The First Epistle of John is one of the Catholic epistles in the New Testament. The preacher sometimes wants to preach or teach from the First Epistle of John. However, it is difficult for the preacher to make a sermon on it. This is because the First Epistle of John has a poor literary coherence, especially since several passages of the First Epistle of John have been generally overlooked or ignored as sermon texts, preachers have had difficulty in interpreting this Bible, according to Karen H. Jobes. However, if the preacher can understand the First Letter of John as a sermon, he(she) will gladly understand the structure, unity and rhetoric of John’s homiletical thought in this Bible. John the Apostle is a preacher in early Christianity. In my opinion, the apostle John wrote and preached the First Epistle of John to his church. This is because false teachers had begun to cause trouble in his community by teaching a false Christology. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to study the first letter of John as a sermon. First of all, this paper studies the apostle John, is the first epistle of John as a sermon, etc. Second, this paper analyses the elements of preaching in the first epistle of John by using the Heidelberg method of sermon analysis.

신약성경 가운데 요한일서는 일반서신에 속하는 편지로 알려져 있다. 때로 설교자는 요한일서를 설교하거나 가르치기를 소원한다, 그러나 설교자가 요한일서를 설교하는 것이 쉽지 않다는 것을 곧바로 느낀 다. 왜냐하면 Karen H. Jobes에 의하면, 요한일서는 느슨한 문학 구조 로 연결되어 있어서, 설교자가 요한일서를 해석하고 설교 본문을 한정 하는데 어려움을 호소할 수밖에 없기 때문이다. 그러나 설교자가 요한일서를 설교라고 생각한다면, 설교자는 요한일서 에 존재하는 사도 요한의 설교학적 통찰력을 구조와 통일성, 미사여구 등 으로 세밀하게 이해하는 것이 가능하다. 실제로, 사도 요한은 초대 교회 의 설교자이었다. 그리고 그는 자신의 교회 공동체를 위해 설교로서의 요 한일서를 작성한 후, 회람 방식으로 설교하였다. 왜냐하면 자신의 공동체 내에 거짓 교사들이 잘못된 기독론을 가르쳐 혼란을 가중했기 때문이다. 이런 점에서 본 논문은 요한일서를 설교문이라는 관점에서 연구한 것이다. 첫째로 논문은 설교자 사도 요한과 설교로서의 요한일서에 관 하여 간략히 서술하였다. 둘째로 논문은 하이델베르크 설교 분석 방법 을 사용하여 설교로서의 요한일서에 내포되어 있는 설교학적인 요소들 을 파악하였다.
