This thesis analyzes and studies the transformational motifs and fantasies of “Broccoli Punch”, “Flat World”, and “Red Fruit” included in Lee Yuri’s fiction collection Broccoli Punch. The above three works, which are the subjects of study, are novels that show the body transformation motif, which is Lee Yuri’s main fantasy motif. Characters unconsciously dream of escape between oppression in reality and the gap from ideals. The transformation-fantasy that manifests in the character’s body is the embodiment and resistance of this desire for escape. Illusion does not lead to liberation, but rather highlights the reality that the character cannot escape. However, they affirm their transformed body and actively live in connection with the world and others as body-subjects. After the pandemic, we recognized the importance of social connection through physicality and contact with the body. Contact is the sense necessary for connection, and physicality is the entity in which we sense existence. Therefore, this study examines and analyzes the significance of the transformation motif and fantasy in Lee Yuri fictions as Merlofonty’s body-subject. In this way, we explore the fantasy of the world of Lee Yuri fictions, and gauge and seek the direction of future fantasy novels in Korean literature. This will also be the beginning of a discussion on how to carry out the solidarity proposed as an alternative to the posthuman and post-pandemic era.

이 논문은 이유리의 소설집 『브로콜리 펀치』에 수록된 「브로콜리 펀치」·「평평한 세계」·「빨간 열매」의 변신 모티프와 환상성을 분석하고 연구한다. 연구 대상인 위의 세 작품은 이유리의 주요 환상 모티프인 신체 변신 모티프가 잘 드러나는 소설이다. 인물들은 현실 속 억압과 이상으로부터의 괴리 사이에서 무의식적으로 탈주를 꿈꾼다. 인물의 신체에 발현한 변신-환상성은 이러한 탈주 욕망의 형상화이자 저항이다. 환상은 해방으로 이어지지 않고 되레 인물의 탈주 불가능한 현실을 부각한다. 그러나 이들은 변신한 몸을 긍정하고, 몸-주체로서 적극적으로 세계와 타인과 연결하여 살아간다. 팬데믹 이후 우리는 몸의 육체성과 접촉을 통한 사회적 연결의 중요성을 인식했다. 접촉은 연결에 필요한 감각이며, 육체성은 우리가 실존을 감각하는 실체다. 따라서 본 연구는 이유리 소설에 나타나는 변신 모티프와 환상성의 의의를 메를로퐁티의 몸-주체로 고찰하고 분석하고자 한다. 이로써 이유리 소설 세계의 환상성을 탐색하고, 향후 한국 문학 속 환상소설의 방향성을 가늠하고 모색한다. 이는 포스트휴먼, 포스트팬데믹 시대의 대안으로 제시된 연대를 어떻게 수행할 것인지에 대한 논의의 단초가 될 것이다.
