This study is a comparative study of Gobulchongrim(고불총림) and Bongamsa Gyeolsa(봉암사 결사), which have historical achievements in Korean modern Buddhist history. Gobulchongrim and Bongamsa Gyeolsa are different in terms of individual significance, character, Buddhist thought, and influence. However, since they were associations that developed in the liberated space, the two associations also had similar aspects in terms of purpose and intelligence. Considering this, the author compared the two associations from the following perspectives. First, the content and character of the two associations were explained from the perspective of the six principles (when, where, who, why, what, how, why) that explain events and movements. Second, the content of the two associations was compared from the perspective of the six principles. Through this, the similarities and differences of the two associations were presented. Third, the two associations were compared from the perspective of succession. This presented the differences in the associations’ data collection, research, publication of books, and promotion after the associations ended. I hope that this thesis, written from the above perspective, will be helpful for the study of Gobulchongrim, Bongamsa Gyeolsa, Manam, Seongcheol, Baekyangsa, Bongamsa, and modern and contemporary Gyeolsa.

이 고찰은 한국 현대불사에서 역사적인 업적을 갖고 있는 고불총림과 봉암사 결사를 비교의 관점에서 서술한 글이다. 고불총림과 봉암사결사는 개별적인 의의, 성격, 불교 사상, 영향 등의 측면에서 이질적이다. 그러나 해방공간에서 전개된 결사이었기에 두 결사는 목적, 지성 등에서 동질적인 측면도 있었다. 이런 것을 고려하여 필자는 다음과 관점에서 두 결사를 비교하였다. 첫째, 사건 및 운동을 설명하는 6하원칙(언제, 어디에서, 누가, 왜, 무엇을, 어떻게, 왜)의 관점에서 두 결사의 내용 및 성격을 설명하였다. 둘째, 두 결사의 내용을 6하원칙 관점에서 나온 것을 비교하여 보았다. 이를 통해 두 결사의 같은 점, 다른 점을 제시하였다. 셋째, 두 결사를 계승의 관점에서 비교를 시도하였다. 이것은 결사가 종료된 이후 결사의 자료 수집, 연구, 책자 발간, 홍보 등에서의 차이점을 제시한 것이다. 이상과 같은 관점에서 서술한 이 논고가 고불총림, 봉암사 결사, 만암, 성철, 백양사, 봉암사, 근현대 결사 등의 연구에 도움이 되길 바란다.
