The purpose of historical research is to help future generations avoid repeating past mistakes, and military history research should be systematically analyzed in consideration of the historical context and military specificity of the war. This study reveals that empirical research in military history involves an objective verification of historical facts, incorporating basic questioning techniques, analysis of military specificity, source analysis, and comparative studies. Furthermore, it proposes the use of modern technologies, such as GIS, to enable more sophisticated analysis and suggests that military history research should be conducted from a comprehensive perspective, including political and social factors. The empirical research methodology in military history emphasizes the importance of objectively analyzing historical events to derive strategic lessons. Such studies provide insights for military training and crisis management, enhancing future military preparedness and response capabilities by reconstructing past wars through computer simulations.

역사 연구는 과거 기록을 통해 후세가 과오를 반복하지 않도록 돕는 것이며, 군사사 연구는 전쟁을 역사적 맥락과 군사적 특수성을 고려해 체계적으로 분석해야 한다. 본 연구는 군사사 실증적 연구가 역사적 사실을 객관적으로 검증하는 접근법으로, 기본적인 질문 방법, 군사적 특수성을 고려한 분석, 사료 분석 및 비교 분석 등을 포함함을 밝혔다. 또한, GIS와 같은 현대적 기술을 활용하여 보다 정교한 분석을 가능하게 하여, 정치적, 사회적 요인을 포함한 복합적인 관점에서 군사사 연구를 진행해야 함을 제안하였다. 군사사 연구의 최종 목표는 과거의 교훈을 통해 미래의 군사적 결정을 내리는 데 중요한 기초 자료를 제공하는 것이며, 실증적 연구 방법론은 역사적 사건을 객관적으로 분석하여 전략적 교훈을 도출하는 데 필수적임을 주장하였다. 이러한 연구는 군사 훈련과 위기 관리에 시사점을 제공하며, 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통해 과거 전쟁을 복원하여 미래의 군사적 대비와 대응력을 향상시킬 수 있다.
