The war in Ukraine has led to increased interest in Russian President Vladimir Putin. Although there are many studies on President Putin from a political and military perspective, there are not many studies on Putin's leadership style. The purpose of this study is to analyse Putin's leadership style using the CIP (Charismatic, Ideological, Pragmatic) leadership model, which is an emerging behavioural science research method. The methodology used in this study is to analyse his major policy actions, presidential speeches and interviews, and Biographical work from the perspective of the CIP leadership model. According to the results of the study, Putin has an ideological leadership style. He presents a vision to the Russian people, but rather than a forward-looking vision, he presents it through the revival of Russia's past position as a great power and their values and traditions. The leadership style of leaders of authoritarian states has even more important implications for the management of crises in the national security field. We hope that this study has helped to shed some light on the leadership of Putin, a politician who is making waves in the international community.

우크라이나 전쟁으로 인해 러시아 푸틴 대통령에 대한 관심이 많아지고 있다. 푸틴 대통령에 대한 정치· 군사적 관점의 연구는 많이 제시되고 있으나 푸틴의 리더십 스타일을 연구한 논문은 많지 않다. 본 연구의 목적은 행동과학적 연구방법으로 새롭게 부상하고 있는 CIP(Charismatic, Ideological, Pragmatic) 리더십 모델을 활용하여 푸틴의 리더십 스타일을 분석하는 것이다. 본 연구의 방법은 그의 주요한 정책적 행동, 대통령 연설 및 인터뷰, 평전의 내용을 CIP 리더십 모델 관점에서 분석하는 방법을 활용하였다. 연구 결과에 의하면, 푸틴은 이념적(ideological) 리더십 스타일을 가지고 있다. 그는 러시아 국민에게 비전을 제시하되, 미래지향적인 비전보다 과거 러시아가 가졌던 강대국으로서 위치와 그들이 가지고 있던 가치와 전통의 부활을 통해 비전을 제시하고 있다. 권위주의 국가 리더의 리더십 성향은 국가안보 위기관리 면에서 더욱 중요한 영향을 미친다. 본 연구를 통해서 국제사회에 파장을 일으키고 있는 정치인 푸틴에 대한 리더십을 다소나마 이해하는 데 도움이 되기를 바란다.
