The purpose of this study is to analyze the elements of crisis management governance of firms with experience of failure in crisis management to identify the organizational characteristics of crisis management governance different from that of advanced crisis management. This study identified the concept of crisis management governance(CMG) through prior research, selected 10 firms cases of crisis management failure firms that correspond to the 4 category of crises, and analyzed the CMG elements of 5 best practices crisis management firms for comparative analysis. In addition, the organizational characteristics of CMG of crisis management failure firms were identified. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that among the organizational elements of CMG, all 10 firms with crisis management failures in the CRO, CMT and CMC were insufficient or not equipped. On the other hand, most of the best practices firms in crisis management had three organizational elements of CMG. In conclusion, for successful crisis management, companies need to establish enhanced CMG like best practice firms and improve them to operate sensitively.

본 연구는 위기관리의 실패 경험이 있는 기업들의 위기관리 거버넌스 요소를 분석하여 위기관리 선진 기업 대비 다른 위기관리 거버넌스의 조직적 특징을 확인하고자 한다. 선행연구를 통해 위기 및 위기관리 거버넌스의 개념을 파악하고 4개의 위기의 유형에 부합하는 위기관리 실패기업 10개의 사례를 선정하였 으며, 비교 분석을 위해 위기관리 선진 기업 5개사의 위기관리 거버넌스 요소를 함께 분석하였다. 그리고 위기관리 실패기업의 위기관리 거버넌스의 조직적 특징을 확인하였다. 위기관리 거버넌스의 조직적 요소 중 전담임원(CRO), 전담팀(CMT), 전담위원회(CMC)에 있는 위기관리 실패 10개 기업 모두 기업은 미흡하거나 갖추고 있지 않은 것으로 확인되었다. 반면 위기관리 선진 기업은 위기관리 거버넌스의 조직적 3개 요소를 대부분 갖추고 있었다. 기업은 위기관리 또는 재난 대응의 성공을 위해서는 위기관리 선진 사례처럼 위기관리 거버넌스를 적절히 갖추고 적시에 작동될 수 있도록 제도화하는 것이 필요하다.
