There exist various types of reports related to Sahaeng (envoy journeys to China). Among these are diplomatic documents such as the Sadae Janggye (report confirming no issues in the tribute relationship) and the Janggye series, which report the situation while traveling through areas such as the Yalu River and Chaekmun. Upon completing their missions, envoys would present reports to the king, including the Byeoldan (special reports) of the chief envoy (Jeongsa) and vice envoy (Busa), the Gye-bon Yeonhaeng Ilgi (record of envoy journey) and Munkyunbyeoldan by the recording official (Seojanggwan), and the Subon by the military escort (Suyeok). The Gye-bon Yeonhaeng Ilgi can be considered the origin of diary- style Sahaeng records. The Ilgi (daily records) and Munkyunbyeoldan by the recording official served as official records, and the content was adjusted or supplemented so that the king could review them. The Munkyunbyeoldan has important historical value as well as literary significance in the study of Korea-China relations. In particular, it has high value as an objective source because it directly recorded the political and social realities of China. In general, research is focused on the Sahaengnok, and there is considerably less interest in the Munkyunbyeoldan. This study aims to examine the document of the Sahaeng report in general terms, and to examine the basic status, format, and content characteristics of the Munkyunbyeoldan. In the future, it is necessary to grasp the entire picture of the existing Munkyunbyeoldan and conduct more in-depth research.

사행에 대한 보고서는 다양하게 존재한다. 외교 문서를 사대하고 문제가 없음을 보고하 는 사대장계, 압록강이나 책문 등을 이동하면서 상황을 보고하는 장계류가 있다. 또한 사 행을 마치고 복명하면서 임금에게 상황을 보고하는 문서로 정사와 부사의 ‘별단(別單)’, 서장관의 ‘계본 연행일기’와 ‘문견별단’, 수역의 ‘수본’ 등이 있다. 일기체 사행록은 ‘계본 연행일기’라 할 수 있으며 서장관의 ‘일기’와 ‘문견별단’은 공적 기록의 일환으로 해당 기록을 임금이 열람할 수 있도록 내용을 가감하거나 보완하는 작업 을 진행하였다. 문견별단은 문학사적 의미와 함께 한중관계사 연구에 높은 사료적 가치를 가진다. 특히 중국의 정치와 사회적 실상을 직접 문견하여 기록하였다는 점에서 객관적인 자료로서 가치가 높다. 대체로 사행록에 대한 연구가 집중되어 있고, 문견별단에 대한 관 심은 상당히 적은 편이다. 본 연구는 사행 보고 문서에 대해 개괄하여 살피고, 문견별단에 대한 기초적인 현황 및 형식, 내용의 특징을 살피기 위한 것이다. 향후 현전하는 문견별단 의 전모를 파악하고 더 깊이 있는 연구를 진행할 필요가 있다.
