Chronic diseases have a significant impact on individual health and public health due to their high prevalence and serious complications. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the interactions between systemic chronic diseases, such as diabetes, and oral chronic diseases, such as periodontitis and dental caries, in Korean adults. By examining the relationship between oral health and systemic diseases, the study proposes the need for integrated management, using data from the 8th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2019-2021). The study sample consisted of 4,360 adults aged 19 and over. The logistic regression analysis revealed that periodontitis had a significant impact on diabetes (p<0.031, R2=0.444) and dental caries (p<0.030, R2=0.028), while dental caries significantly influenced periodontitis (p<0.039, R2=0.136), but was not associated with diabetes (p>0.05). These findings confirm that managing periodontitis, an oral chronic disease, significantly impacts the prevention of diabetes, a systemic chronic disease.

만성질환은 높은 유병률과 심각한 합병증으로 개인 건강과 공중보건에 중대한 영향을 미친다. 이에 본 연 구는 한국 성인의 전신 만성질환인 당뇨병과 구강 만성질환인 치주질환, 치아우식증 간의 상호관계를 분석하고 구 강건강과 전신질환의 연관성을 분석하여, 통합적 관리의 필요성을 제안하고자 국민건강영양조사 제8기(2019-2021) 자료를 활용하였다. 연구 대상은 만 19세 이상의 성인 4,360명으로 정하였다. 로지스틱 회귀분석 결과, 치주질환은 당뇨병(p<0.031, R2=0.444)과 치아우식증(p<0.030, R2=0.028)에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며, 치아우식증은 치주질환 에 유의한 영향을 미쳤으나(p<0.039, R2=0.136), 당뇨병과는 상호 관련이 없는 것으로 나타났다(p>0.05). 이를 통 해 구강 만성질환인 치주질환 관리가 전신 만성질환인 당뇨병의 예방에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다.
