This study analyzes the correlation between the film music used in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy and the film's narrative through the 'Hero's Journey Theory' presented by Christopher Vogler in ‘The Writer’s Journey’. The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy includes “Pirates of the Caribbean; The Curse of the Black Pearl”, “Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Man’s Chest”, “Pirates of the Caribbean; At the End of the World” consists of three parts, and the narrative follows the 12 stages suggested by the hero’s journey theory. Therefore, this paper analyzes the film music (Original Score) used in the film and assumes that the function of the film music is developed according to the function shown in the film and influences the narrative. The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy continues the Original Score of “The Curse of the Black Pearl” throughout the trilogy, and the Original Score of “Dead Man’s Chest” also showed connectivity playing in “At the End of the World.” The “Curse of the Black Pearl” Original Score, which showed both conflict and resolution within the work, appeared to cover all functions from the ‘Ordinary World’ to ‘Return with The Elixir’, and in “Dead Man’s Chest” and “The End of the World” the ‘Ordinary World’ , the Original Score that functions as ‘Call to Adventure' appears to reuse the Original Score of ‘The Curse of the Black Pearl'. The Original Score of video narrative media, including movies, is an auxiliary element of the movie narrative and plays a role in increasing audience immersion. The significance of this study is that the analysis of the Original Score used in movies goes beyond music analysis and composer analysis and suggests a new method called narrative analysis for Original Score research. The research analysis presented in this study can be used not only for Original Score narrative analysis of movies and dramas, but also for narrative analysis of music used in hypertext, web dramas with interactive functions, and video games. It will also help with composition and media production for these media.

본 연구는 캐리비안의 해적 삼부작에 사용된 영화음악과 영화의 서사간의 상관관계를 크리 스토퍼 보글러가 「신화, 영웅, 그리고 시나리오 쓰기」를 통해 제시한 ‘영웅의 여정 이론’을 통해 분석 한다. 캐리비안의 해적 삼부작은 「캐리비안의 해적; 블랙펄의 저주」, 「캐리비안의 해적; 망자의 함」, 「캐리비안의 해적; 세상의 끝에서」세 편으로 구성되어 있으며, 서사는 영웅의 여정 이론에서 제시한 12단계 기능을 따라가고 있다. 본고는 영화에서 사용된 영화음악(Original Score)을 분석하고, 영화에서 나타난 기능에 따라 영화음악의 기능이 전개되어 서사에 영향을 미치고 있음을 가정한다. 캐 리비안의 해적 삼부작의 OS는 「블랙펄의 저주」의 OS가 3부작 내내 이어지며, 「망자의 함」의 OS 또한 「세상의 끝」에서 재생되는 연결성을 보여주었다. 작품 내에서 갈등과 해결을 모두 보여준 「블 랙펄의 저주」OS는 일상세계부터 일상으로 귀환까지 모든 기능에 해당하는 OS가 나타났으며, 「망자 의 함」과 「세상의 끝」에서 ‘일상세계’, ‘모험의 부름’등의 기능을 하는 OS는 「블랙펄의 저주」의 OS를 재사용하는 모습을 보여주었다. 영화를 포함한 영상 서사매체의 OS는 영화 서사의 보조요소로, 관객의 몰입도를 높이는 역할을 하고 있다. 본 연구는 영화에서 사용된 OS의 분석을 악곡분석, 작곡가 분석을 넘어 OS 연구에 서사분석이라는 새로운 방법을 제시하였다는 의의를 지니고 있다. 본 연구에서 제시한 연구분석을 활용하면 영화와 드라마의 OS 서사분석은 물론, 하이퍼텍스트, 인터렉티브 기능이 포함된 웹드라마, 비디오게임에서 사용된 음악의 서사분석에도 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 또한 이러한 매체를 위한 작곡, 미디어 제작에 도움이 될 것이다.
