This study explores how gaming addiction among young adults influences problematic investment behavior through the mediating effect of loot box purchases. An online survey was conducted with young adults aged 19-39, and data from 1,064 respondents were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and mediation model analysis employing Hayes' PROCESS Macro. The results revealed significant positive correlations among the key variables. Gaming addiction was found to have a significant positive impact on problematic investment behavior. Additionally, the mediation analysis indicated that loot box purchases partially and significantly mediated the relationship between gaming addiction and problematic investment behavior. Based on these findings, the study discusses the impact of gaming addiction and loot box purchase experiences on problematic investment behavior among young adults.

본 연구는 청년의 게임 중독이 확률형 아이템 구매를 매개로 문제적 투자행동에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 탐색하기 위해 진행되었다. 이를 위해 19-39세의 청년을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였으며 1,064명의 자료를 대상으로 기술통계 및 상관분석, Hayes의 PROCESS Macro를 활용한 매개모형 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 주요변인은 상호간 유의한 정적상관관계를 나타냈 으며 게임 중독은 문제적 투자행동에 유의한 정적영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 매개분석 결과 게임 중독과 문제적 투자행동의 관계를 확률형 아이템이 유의하게 부분매개하는 것으로 나타 났다. 분석 결과를 바탕으로 청년의 게임 중독과 확률형 아이템 구매 경험이 문제적 투자행동에 미 치는 영향에 관하여 논의하였다.
