Jeju Haenyeo are craftsmen of folk knowledge that preserve cultural diversity. In the 21st century, the strong life spirit of Jeju’s Haenyeo has been rediscovered, and their community cultural values are gaining attention. Haenyeo are female ecologists who have adapted to the marine ecological environment, accumulated material skills and maritime knowledge, and played a leading role in the household economy through the harvesting of marine products. For this reason, the culture of Haenyeo, which is listed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, is considered by many to demonstrate the unique cultural identity and cultural diversity of the region. This study is an attempt to lay the groundwork for the preservation and transmission of intangible culture through storytelling of the community culture of Jeju’s Haenyeo spirit. This paper presents an animated storyboard of Onpyeong-ri’s ‘School sea’ for the sustainability and preservation of Jeju Haenyeo’s community culture, which is gradually disappearing, and develops the story of Jeju Haenyeo’s intangible culture in a new generation’s platform.

제주 해녀는 문화다양성을 간직한 민속 지식의 장인이다. 21세기를 맞이하며 제주 해녀들이 지닌 강인한 삶의 정신이 재조명되면서 해녀들의 공동체 문화 가치가 주목받고 있다. 해녀들은 바다 생태환경에 적응하며 물질 기 술과 해양 지식을 축적하였고, 수산물의 채취를 통하여 가정 경제의 주체적 역할을 담당한 여성생태주의자들이다. 때문에 사람들은 유네스코 인류무형문화유산에 등재된 해녀 문화에 대해 ‘지역의 독특한 문화적 정체성과 문화적 다양성’을 보여준다고 평가한다. 이 연구는 제주 해녀 정신이 깃든 공동체 문화를 스토리텔링하여 무형 문화의 보 존과 전승의 기틀을 다지려는 시도다. 본문에서는 점차 소실되어 가는 제주 해녀 공동체 문화의 지속가능성과 보 존을 위해 온평리 ‘학교바당’의 애니메이션 스토리보드를 제시하면서, 새로운 세대의 플랫폼에 맞춘 제주 해녀 무 형 문화의 이야기를 전개하였다.
