This thesis aims to explore the trends and significance of research on the Donghak Peasant Revolution, accumulated over multiple years, by utilizing informetric methodologies. To this end, bibliographic data from papers archived in the "Donghak Peasant Revolution Archive," established by the Donghak Peasant Revolution Foundation, was used to analyze domestic research trends on the Donghak Peasant Revolution from 1955 to 2021. Chapter 1 outlines the data processing procedures and the specific research methodology used for trend analysis. Chapters 2 and 3 analyze bibliographic information and changes in research topics based on the 2,133 data entries collected. Research on the Donghak Peasant Revolution has been activated in cycles of ten years, with significant changes observed around the 100th anniversary in 1994 and the 120th anniversary in 2014. Moreover, it was found that the focus of research has gradually shifted from macrohistorical to microhistorical approaches. While early studies centered on the historical concept of the Donghak Peasant Revolution, recent research has increasingly focused on specific case studies targeting particular regions, individuals, and events. Through this process, a time-series analysis of research trends on the Donghak Peasant Revolution was conducted, and key turning points were identified.

본 연구는 계량정보학적 방법론을 활용하여 다년간 축적된 동학농민혁명 연구의 경향성과 의미를 탐구하였다. 이를 위해 동학농민혁명기념재단의 ‘동학농민혁명 사 료(史料) 아카이브’에 구축된 논문 서지정보를 데이터로 활용하여 1955년부터 2021년까지의 국내 동학농민혁명 연구 동향을 분석하였다. 1장에서는 연구 동향 분석을 위한 데이터 처리 과정과 구체적인 연구 방법론을 서술하였다. 2장과 3장에 서는 수집된 2,133건의 데이터를 바탕으로 논문 발행 정보와 연구 주제의 변화를 분석하였다. 동학농민혁명 연구는 10년 단위로 활성화되었으며, 특히 1994년의 100주년과 2014년 두갑자를 기점으로 중요한 변화를 보였다. 또한, 동학농민혁명 연구는 초기의 거시적 담론에서 점차 미시적으로 전환되는 경향을 보였다. 초기 연구가 동학농민혁명의 역사적 개념을 밝히는 것에 주안점을 두었다면, 최근 특정 지역이나 인물, 사건을 중심으로 한 사례 연구에 집중되고 있는 양상을 확인했다. 이러한 과정을 통해 동학농민혁명 연구 동향을 시기별로 분석하고, 주요 변곡점을 탐색하였다.
