This study examines the influence of social support and the moderating effect of the Korean Wave (Hallyu) experience on foreign students' intentions to reside permanently in Korea. For this research, a survey was conducted targeting foreign students from China, Vietnam, and Mongolia, who make up the majority of international students in Korea. The findings indicate that among individual characteristics, nationality and the length of stay in Korea are factors associated with the intent to reside. Specifically, Mongolian and Vietnamese students exhibited a higher intent to reside than Chinese students. Furthermore, the relationship between social support and the intention to reside showed no significant impact. However, examining the moderating effect of Hallyu experiences revealed an interaction effect between social support and Hallyu experience. Notably, Hallyu experience and evaluative support were found to have a significant relationship; as evaluative support increased, the intent to reside decreased. This study’s results differ somewhat from previous research, which generally suggested that Hallyu experience and social support positively influence study country selection and academic satisfaction. This finding underscores the need for further research on this topic.

본 연구는 외국인 유학생의 국내 정주의사에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 사회적지지와 한류 경험의 조절효과를 살펴보았다. 연구를 위해 유학생의 다수를 차지하고 있는 중국, 베트남, 몽골 외국인 유학 생을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 개인적 특성에서는 국적과 한국체류기간에 따라 정주 의사가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 몽골, 베트남 학생들은 중국 학생들에 비해 정주의사가 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 다음으로, 사회적 지지와 정주 의사와의 관계에서는 유의미한 영향이 없는 것으로 나타 났다. 다만, 조절효과로써 한류경험이 사회적 지지와 상호작용 효과가 있는지를 살펴본 결과 사회적 지지와 한류경험 간 상호작용 효과가 나타났다. 특히 한류경험과 평가적 지지가 유의미한 관계가 있 는 것으로 분석되었는데, 평가적 지지가 많아질수록 정주 의사가 낮은 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구 결과는 한류경험과 사회적 지지가 유학국 결정과 학업 만족도에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 기존의 연구와는 다소 다른 결과라고 할 수 있다. 이와 관련하여 보다 심층적이고 다차원적인 연구를 통해 외국인 유학생의 정주의사를 규명할 필요가 있다.
