This study was conducted to analyze the career issues perceived by vocational counselors at regional universities during the career and job counseling process and to explore the difficulties faced by these counselors. We recruited 26 vocational counselors from four-year universities in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions through online social media platforms. The participants completed open-ended questionnaires, and the data were analyzed using the Consensual Qualitative Research-Modified (CQR-M) method. The findings of the study are as follows: First, university students' career issues, as perceived by the counselors, were categorized into two domains: the personal domain (six categories) and the environmental domain (three categories). Second, the challenges faced by vocational counselors were classified into three domains: counseling difficulties (three categories), employment support difficulties (three categories), and administrative difficulties (one category). Third, helpful educational program areas for vocational counselors at regional universities were categorized into five groups, effective methods into four, and desired program areas into six. This study suggests strengthening region-specific career and employment support systems and establishing multifaceted measures, including capacity-building and professional development, to address the challenges faced by university vocational counselors.

본 연구는 지방대학 직업상담사가 진로 및 취업상담 과정에서 인식하는 대학생의 진로문제를 분석 하고, 직업상담사들이 겪는 어려움을 탐색하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 온라인 SNS를 통해 부·울· 경 지역 4년제 대학의 직업상담사를 모집하였으며, 자발적으로 참여에 동의한 26명의 직업상담사를 대 상으로 개방형 질문지를 배부하였다. 수집된 자료는 합의적 질적 분석-수정본(CQR-M) 절차에 따라 분 석되었다. 연구결과는 첫째, 지방대학 직업상담사가 인식하는 대학생의 진로문제는 2개 영역으로 개인 영역 6개 범주, 환경영역 3개 범주로 도출되었다. 둘째, 지방대학 직업상담사가 경험하는 취업상담에 대한 어려움은 3개 영역으로 상담영역과 취업지원 영역은 각 3개의 범주, 행정영역은 1개의 범주로 도 출되었다. 셋째, 지방대학 직업상담사가 도움이 되었던 교육프로그램 영역은 5개 범주로 나타났으며, 도움이 되었던 교육방식 영역은 4개의 범주, 제공되기를 원하는 교육프로그램 영역은 6개 범주로 도출 되었다. 본 연구결과를 통해, 각 지역의 특성을 반영한 지방대학생들을 위한 진로 및 취업지원 체계를 강화하고, 대학 직업상담사의 어려움을 해결하기 위한 역량 및 전문성 증진을 포함한 다각적 지원 방안 을 마련할 필요가 있음을 제안하였다.
