As the aging population rapidly increases, the managem ent of chronic diseases among older adults has become in creasingly important, leading to a rise in medication use. Along with this, medication misuse and side effects have emerged as serious social issues. In response to this back ground, this study investigates the use of NFC-enabled over-the-counter (OTC) drug packaging for efficient me dication guidance for older adults. A consumer survey w as conducted among older adults, followed by the develop ment of a prototype and a usability evaluation using a 5- point Likert scale. The evaluation results showed that, in terms of gender, most males scored higher, while in term s of age, scores tended to decrease as age increased. Ho wever, no statistically significant differences were found in either gender or age groups. In terms of education leve l, higher educational attainment was generally associated with higher scores. The evaluation also showed that wor king adults tended to give higher scores across most cate gories. Despite variations in gender, age, education, and occupation, high scores were observed across most usabil ity areas. This study highlights the integration of packag ing and technology to provide effective medication guida nce for older adults. However, the study's sample size of 54 participants limits the generalizability of the findings. Future research should address a broader range of enviro nments and backgrounds. It is expected that the results of this study will serve as valuable foundational data for the use of NFC in OTC drug packaging, as well as in the design of packaging solutions for older adults in general.

고령화가 빠르게 진행됨에 따라 고령자의 만성질환 관리 가 중요해지고, 그로 인해 약물 복용이 늘어나고 있다. 이와 함께 약물 오남용과 부작용이 심각한 사회적 문제로 대두되 고 있다. 이러한 배경에서 본 연구는 고령자의 효율적 복약지 도를 위해 NFC를 적용한 상비약 패키지를 연구하였다. 고령 자 대상 소비자 조사를 진행한 후 프로토타입을 제작하여 5 점 리커트 척도로 사용성 평가를 실시하였다. 평가 결과, 성 별에 따른 비교 결과, 대부분 남성이 높은 점수를 보였으며, 연령에 따른 비교 결과, 모든 영역에서 연령이 높아질수록 점 수가 낮아지는 현상을 보였다. 그러나 성별, 연령별 모두 통 계적으로 유의한 차이는 없었다. 학력에 따른 비교 결과, 학 력 수준이 높을수록 대체로 높은 점수를 보였다. 직업에 따른 비교 결과, 직장인이 전반적으로 높은 점수를 보였다. 성별, 연령, 학력, 직업에 관계없이 대부분의 사용성 항목에서 높은 점수를 보였다. 본 연구는 고령자들의 효율적인 복약지도를 위해 패키지와 기술의 결합을 시도하였다는데 의의가 있다. 그러나 54명의 제한된 샘플을 대상으로 사용성 평가를 진행 했으므로, 결과를 일반화하기에는 한계가 있다. 향후 다양한 환경과 배경을 고려한 추가적인 후속 연구가 필요하다. 본 연 구 결과가 상비약 패키지뿐만 아니라 고령자를 위한 패키지 디자인 전반에 NFC 활용시 유용한 기초 자료로 활용되길 기대한다.
