American color company Pantone revolutionized color by developing the scientific Pantone Matching System, which allows for uniform colors across all industries. Pantone assigned unique numbers to colors, created standard hues across industries, and since 2000, has announced an annual Color of the Year. Pantone's Color of the Year has also become highly influential in shaping trends in art and design-related fields and industries. Makeup is a beauty design that can express the latest trends and images on the face first, and is recognized as a specialized field that changes the image and creates an individual's personality according to the purpose or role. In particular, beauty makeup is a field that is sensitive to trends related to human appearance, and trend colors are applied as important formative elements of design. In this study, we aimed to investigate makeup design and creative makeup design using trending Pantone colors, which are among the visual expression elements of modern people. The research method was to identify the characteristics of Pantone trend colors and conduct research questions on their application in makeup design by referring to previous studies, and websites related to Pantone colors and makeup design. We analyzed recent examples of design applications of the 2024 Pantone Color of the Year, and created and presented makeup design works using color combinations centered on the color of the year. As a result of the study, Pantone's Color of the Year is applied to various design fields and is used as a key visual expression shaping element in the realization of trend-driven personality and image in makeup design. By identifying the characteristics of Pantone's trend colors, we aimed to provide a direction for creative image realization in the application and development of future design trends in makeup.

미국의 색채 회사 팬톤은 과학적인 컬러 매칭 시스 템을 개발하여 모든 산업에 통일된 색상을 제시할 수 있게 됨으로써 혁신을 가져왔다. 팬톤은 컬러에 고유 번호를 붙이고 산업 전반에서 표준 색채를 제시하였고 2000년부터는 매년 ‘올해의 컬러’를 발표해 오고 있다. 또한 팬톤의 올해의 컬러는 예술과 디자인 관련 분야 및 산업의 트렌드 형성에 큰 영향력을 미치게 되었다. 메이크업은 최근의 유행과 이미지를 얼굴에 가장 먼 저 표현해 줄 수 있는 뷰티 디자인으로써 목적이나 역 할에 따라 이미지를 변화시키고 개인의 개성을 창출하 는 전문 분야로 인식되고 있다. 특히 뷰티 메이크업은 인간의 외모와 관련되어 트렌드에 민감하게 반응하는 분야로써 트렌드 컬러는 디자인의 중요한 조형적 요소 로 적용된다. 본 연구에서는 현대인들의 시각적 표현 요소 중 메 이크업 디자인과 트렌드를 주도하는 팬톤 컬러를 활용 한 창의적인 메이크업 디자인에 관해 연구하고자 하였 다. 연구방법은 팬톤 트렌드 컬러의 특성을 파악하고 메 이크업 디자인 응용에 관한 연구문제를 수행하기 위해 선행연구와 팬톤 컬러와 메이크업 디자인 관련 인터넷 사이트를 중심으로 자료를 참조하여 분석하였다. 최근 2024년 팬톤의 올해의 컬러가 응용된 디자인 분야의 사례를 분석하고 올해의 컬러를 중심으로 조합 배색을 활용한 메이크업 디자인 작품을 제작하여 제시하였다. 연구의 결과, 팬톤의 올해의 컬러는 다양한 디자인 분야에 적용되고 있으며, 메이크업 디자인에서 트렌드 를 주도하는 개성 표현과 이미지 구현에 주요 시각적 표현의 조형 요소로 활용되었다. 팬톤 트렌드 컬러의 특성을 파악하여 메이크업의 미 래 디자인의 트렌드에 관한 응용과 개발에 창의적인 이 미지 구현의 방향을 제시하고자 하였다.
