A Study on the Analysis of Reading Activities in Korean Language Textbooks for Academic Purposes

This study aims to analyze the learning activities in reading textbooks currently used by learners for academic purposes and to propose strategies for developing reading activities tailored to academic Korean language learners. To achieve this, the reading activities in five representative academic Korean textbooks were analyzed based on four criteria: lexical and grammatical comprehension, factual comprehension, inferential comprehension, and critical comprehension. The analysis revealed that activities aimed at enhancing critical literacy skills were scarcely presented. Therefore, it is necessary to actively develop activities and texts that focus on improving critical comprehension skills.
