This article summarizes the distribution status and research findings of Later Baekje relics uncovered in Jeonju area. It classifies the remains into four categories: fortresses, architecture, production facilities, and tombs, while identifying their distinguishing characteristics based on excavation findings. In Jeonju, the existence of the Gotoseong Fortress, believed to have been built by Gyeon Hwon, was confirmed. Addtionally, traces of a fortress wall were also discovered in the Goseongbyekji area of Later Baekje, as indicated in the historical document “Jeonjubugyeongyeonhyekdo”of Jeonju Busa. Roof tiles inscribed with ‘Jeonjuseong’(全州城) and tiles marked with ‘official’(官), excavated from Donggosanseong Fortress, suggest that the site housed state-related buildings or government offices. Furthermore, the Uadongdo site is considered a possible production facility that supplied materials to Donggosanseong Fortress. Cremation tombs of high-ranking officials were discovered in Yongdubong and Balsan areas of Jeonju, offering insights into the religious beliefs and burial customs of Later Baekje. In summary, the relics found in Jeonju area include building sites, production facilities, and tombs, along with Jeonju City Wall such as Gotoseong Fortress. These archaeological findings demonstrate Jeonju's role as the royal capital of Later Baekje.

본 글은 전주지역에서 조사된 후백제유적의 분포현황과 조사성과를 정리한 것 으로 17개소 유적에서 조사된 유구를 성곽ㆍ건축ㆍ생산ㆍ분묘유적으로 구분하고 그 성격을 파악하였다. 전주에는 견훤이 쌓았다고 전해지는 고토성의 존재가 확인되었고, 『전주부사』｢전주 부경역연혁도(全州府境域沿革圖)｣에 표기된 후백제의 고성벽지 구간에서도 성벽의 흔적을 찾을 수 있었다. 동고산성에서 출토된 ‘전주성(全州城)’명의 기와와 건축유 적에서 출토된 ‘관(官)’자명의 기와는 건물들이 국가나 관청과 관련된 시설임을 말 해주고 있다. 이 밖에도 우아동도요지는 동고산성에 물자를 공급해 주었던 생산유 적일 가능성을 제기하였다. 전주 용두봉과 발산 일원에서 사회 고위층의 무덤인 화 장묘가 발굴됨에 따라 후백제의 종교관과 매장풍습을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 이와같이 전주지역에는 고토성을 비롯한 전주도성과 건물지, 생산시설, 무덤을 총 망라한 유적이 자리하고 있으며, 이 유적들은 전주가 후백제의 왕도임을 입증해주는 고고학적인 자료라고 할 수 있다.
