Purpose: This study aimed to identify research trends and propose future directions regarding the triage competence of nurses and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) working in Korean emergency departments. Methods: A review of the literature was conducted using three databases (RISS, KISS, DBpia). Articles were retrieved using the following keywords: nurses AND triage competencies, EMTs AND triage competencies, and nurses AND EMTs AND triage competencies. Relevant studies were analyzed using a narrative literature review approach to assess the triage competence of nurses and EMTs. Results: Out of 247 initially identified articles, 18 studies were selected for final review. Most studies employed descriptive survey designs, with one quasi-experimental study, three qualitative studies, one concept analysis, and one study focused on developing a measurement tool. Conclusion: The findings of this study provide a foundation for future research on the triage competence of nurses and EMTs in emergency departments. They highlight critical areas for development and suggest directions for improving triage practices and capabilities in these healthcare roles.

목적: 본 연구는 국내 응급실에서 근무하는 간호사와 응급구조사의 응급환자의 중증도 분류 역량에 대한 연구 동향을 파악 및 향후 연구 방향을 제시하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구방법: 3개의 데이터베이스(RISS, KISS, DBpia)의 논문을 검토했다. 논문제목을 ‘간호사 AND 중증도분류’, ‘응급구조사 AND 중증도분류’, ‘응급구조사 AND 간호사 AND 중증도분류’로 주요 검색어로 사용하여 추출된 논문을 선정하였다. 간호사와 응급구조사의 중증도 분류 역량 과 관련된 문헌을 서술적 문헌 고찰(narrative literature review) 방식으로 분석하였다. 연구결과: 총 247개의 논문 중 최종적으로 18개의 논문이 선정되어 검토되었다. 대부분의 연구가 서술적 조사연구 설계 논문이었고, 유사실험연구가 1편, 질적연구가 3편, 개념분석 1편, 측정도구 개발 1편인 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 향후 응급실 내 간호사와 응급구조사의 중증도 분류 역량에 관한 연구방향과 과제을 제시하는 데 기초자료 가 될 것이다.
