This study examined the content and value of Park Dong-sil’s pansori, which is currently referred to as ‘Damyang Sori.’ First, the concept of regional pansori and the historical development of Damyang Sori were explored. Then, the research results on Park Dong-sil’s pansori were examined, and the historical significance of pansori was presented. In addition, the intangible cultural heritage value and typicality of Damyang Sori were studied, focusing on and . Finally, efforts to transmit Damyang Sori were suggested and transmission activation measures were presented. Park Dong-sil faithfully inherited the traditional pansori based on regional foundations and led the establishment and transmission of creative pansori. can be inherited as ‘pansori’ and creative pansori is accepted as a meaningful experiment because it is connected to the tradition of pansori. This also explains why ‘regions’ including Damyang and Gwangju are acknowledged as the origins of creative pansori. The cultural tradition of the Damyang region became the umbilical cord that created the origin of creative pansori. Park Dong-sil inherited traditional pansori, using the sound of Ilnalchi as its origin, and expanded the world of pansori by creating Yeolsaga. In addition, he developed pansori as a performance because he excelled in the stage sound of Changgeuk, and this creative spirit continued even after his defection to North Korea, which can be seen as a meaningful achievement for Park Dong-sil. Considering the historical significance of Park Dong-sil’s pansori, ‘Damyang Sori’ needs to create a foundation to advance beyond Damyang to the entire country and the world. In this sense, designation and support for intangible cultural heritage should be conducted more actively.

본 연구는 현재 ‘담양소리’로 일컫고 있는 박동실제 판소리의 내용과 가치를 고 찰한 것이다. 먼저 지역 판소리의 개념과 담양소리의 역사적 전개에 대해 살폈다. 다음으로는 그간 박동실 판소리에 대한 연구 성과를 살피고 판소리사적 의미를 제 시하였다. 또한 담양소리의 무형유산적 가치와 전형성을 <심청가>와 <열사가>를 중심으로 고찰하였다. 마지막으로 담양소리의 전승을 위해 노력해야 할 점을 제안 하고 전승 활성화 방안을 제시하였다. 박동실은 지역적 기반을 배경으로 전통 판소리 서편제 <심청가>를 충실하게 계승했으며, 창작 판소리의 성립과 전승을 주도하였다. <열사가>가 ‘판소리’로서 전승될 수 있고, 창작 판소리가 의미 있는 실험으로 받아들여지는 것은 그것이 판 소리의 전통과 연계되어 있기 때문이다. 담양과 광주를 비롯한 ‘지역’이 창작 판소 리의 산실이라고 하는 것도 이 때문이다. 담양지역이 지닌 문화적 전통은 창작 판소리의 근원을 만든 탯자리가 되었다. 박동실은 이날치 소리를 연원으로 삼아 전 통 판소리를 계승하였고, 더불어 <열사가>를 만들어 판소리의 세계를 확장시켰다. 또한 박동실은 창극의 무대소리에 뛰어났다는 점에서 공연으로서의 판소리를 발 전시켰으며, 이러한 창조적 정신은 월북 후에도 여러 활동으로 이어졌다는 점에서 박동실의 업적을 의미화 할 수 있을 것이다. 박동실제 판소리가 가진 판소리사적 중요성을 생각해 볼 때 ‘담양소리’는 담양 을 넘어 전국으로 나아갈 발판을 만들 필요가 있다. 그러한 점에서 지금부터라도 무형유산으로서의 지정과 지원이 더욱 적극적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.
