This paper conducted a comparative analysis of the descriptions of the Sino-Japanese War among five types of Japanese high school history textbook Advanced Japanese History, which was introduced as a new subject in 2022, as well as comparative analysis of perspectives with existing textbooks. Through this, the following conclusions were drawn. First, the direct cause of the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War was the conflict of opinions between Sino-Japanese and Japan's surprise attack, which started from Japan's unreasonableness in interfering with Joseon's internal reform even though the justification for dispatching troops disappeared after the Donghak Peasant Movement was suppressed. The point is that there are textbooks that explicitly state that the attack was the cause and those that do not. Second, regarding the development process of the Sino-Japanese War, it is divided into textbooks that contain a perspective on Joseon, which became a battlefield during the Sino-Japanese War, and textbooks that do not. In addition, in all aspects, such as military training, uniformity of laws, and uniformity of new weapons, Japan It was also revealed that Yamakawa Shuppansha Ltd.'s view that it was able to win due to the overwhelming superiority of was very similar to the expression in the New History Textbook. Third, in terms of the results and impact of the Sino-Japanese War, there were notable differences between textbooks in their narrative attitudes toward Taiwan, which was recruited as a colony. In relation to Korea, there were also differences in perspectives among textbooks regarding whether or not the assassination of Empress Myeongseong was mentioned. Lastly, it was pointed out that in all textbooks there was no mention of the ‘Lushun Massacre’ that occurred during the Sino-Japanese War. The Lushun Massacre, which occurred under the war justification of a war between civilization and barbarism, was a product that contradicted propaganda. When the process of starting a war without justification, the inappropriateness of the declaration of war, and the perception and self-reflection of East Asia as a war-affected area including the Lushun Massacre are included, the learner's ‘inquiry' befits the textbook title of Advanced Japanese History capacity can be strengthened.

이 논문은 2022년 새교과목으로 도입된 일본고등학교 역사교과서인 『일본사탐구』 5종 간 청일전쟁에 대한 서술 비교분석 및 기존 교과서와의 관점도 비교분석 하였다. 이를 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 청일전쟁의 직접적 발발원인에 대해서는 동학농민운동이 진압된 후 출병 의 명분이 사라졌음에도 불구하고 조선의 내정개혁을 간섭하는 일본의 억지스러 움에서 출발한 청일간의 의견대립과 일본측의 기습공격이 원인이 되었음을 명시 한 교과서와 아닌 교과서로 나뉜다는 점이다. 둘째, 청일전쟁의 전개과정에 대해서는 청–일 전쟁 간 전쟁터로 피해지가 된 조선에 대한 관점이 녹아있는 교과서와 아닌 교과서로 나뉘며, 추가로 군대 훈련, 법률 통일성, 신식 병기의 통일성 등 모든 면에서 일본의 압도적 우세 속에 이길 수 있었다는 야마카와슛판의 시각은 20년 전 『새로운 역사교과서』의 표현과 매우 유사하다는 점도 밝혔다. 셋째, 청일전쟁의 결과 및 영향 측면에서는 식민지로 영입한 대만에 대한 서술 태도에서 교과서별 차이가 두드러졌다. 한국과 관련해서도 명성황후 시해사건의 언급여부에 교과서별 시각 차이가 나타났다. 끝으로 모든 교과서에서 청일전쟁 중에 발생한 ‘뤼순학살사건’에 대한 언급이 없는 점을 지적했다. 문명과 야만의 전쟁이라는 전쟁명분 하에 발생한 뤼순학살은 프로파간다와는 모순된 산물이었던 것이다. 명분없던 전쟁 개시과정, 선전 포고의 부적절함, 뤼순학살을 포함한 전쟁 피해지로서의 동아시아에 대한 인식 및 자성 (自省)이 포함될 때 일본사탐구라는 교과서 제목에 걸맞는 학습자의 ‘탐구’역량 이 강화될 수 있을 것이다.
