This study aims to examine the practice of cultivation in Donghak, which began with Suun’s reception of the Mind Method of ‘My mind is Your mind(Heaven’s mind is human’s mind)’(吾心卽 汝心). In April of the Gyeongsin year, Suun experienced a sudden chill in his heart and a violent trembling of his body. Through a dialogue with a heavenly spirit, he received the Way of Saving All Living Beings. After cultivating and refining this Way, Suun composed an incantation and established a practice method. In June of the Sinyu year, he began spreading his teachings. Suun cultivated and refined the ineffable tacit knowledge of Heaven he had experienced for over a year, transforming it into explicit knowledge by composing an incantation and establishing a practice method. He then began propagating his teachings. This study aims to examine the practice methods transmitted by Suun after June of the Sinyu year, through the teachings of Suun, Haewol, Uiam, and Chunam, the four founders of Cheondogyo. First, the meanings of ‘My mind is Your mind(Heaven’s mind is human’s mind)’ and The re-emergence of the Gyeongbyeok Unsu were examined. Next, we will examine the meaning of ‘Sushim Jeonggi’(守心正氣) in comparison with the concepts of Benevolence, Righteousness, Propriety, and Wisdom, and understood that the practice of ‘Sushim Jeonggi’(守心正氣) should be carried out with the mindset of filial piety, brotherly love, and respect for others. Additionally, the practice methods of ‘Heart’s communication’(心告), ‘Food offering’(食告), and ‘prayer through mantras’(呪文祈禱) were examined as practical approaches. Ultimately, the answer to the self (自身) can be found in ‘My mind is Your mind(Heaven’s mind is human’s mind)’ (吾心卽汝心), and the practice methods of Donghak not only seek to discover the self (自身) but also serve as a discipline to strengthen it. In ‘My mind is Your mind,’ ‘My mind’ refers to the Heavenly Mind, which is the origin of all things, and ‘Your mind’ refers to the human mind. Here, the idea of ‘Humans are Heaven’ (人乃天) emerges. As practical methods of Donghak cultivation, ‘Heart’s communication’ represents the meaning of ‘Chulpil Gobanpilgo’ (出必告半必告), ‘Food offering’ signifies ‘Banpo Ji-hyo’ (反哺之孝), and ‘prayer through mantras’ teaches that by continuously remembering the grace of the Heavenly Lord (侍天主 恩德) revealed in the mantra, one can transform into a true and complete saint. Additionally, it was understood that prayer through mantras is performed with the 13 characters of the ‘Sicheonju’ mantra, and that it is not a practice of energy cultivation (Qi training) but a practice of spiritual cultivation (Holy Spirit training).

이 연구에서는 수운이 오심즉여심의 심법을 받으면서 시작된 동학의 수도법에 대해서 고찰해 보고자 한다. 수운은 경신년 4월 마음이 선뜩해지고 몸이 몹시 떨리는 체험을 하는 한편, 천사문답을 통해 광제창생의 도를 받는다. 수운은 그 도를 닦고 단련하여 주문을 짓고 수도법을 정한 후 신유년 6월에 이르러 포덕을 시작한다. 수운은 자신이 체험한 말로는 표현할 수 없는 천에 대한 암묵지(暗默知)를 1년여 동안 닦고 단련하여 주문을 짓고 수도법을 정하는 등 명시지(明示知)로 전환한 후 포덕을 시작한 것이다. 이번 연구는 신유년 6월 이후 수운이 전한 수도법을 수운 해월 의암 춘암 등 천도교 4분 교조의 교설을 통해 고찰해 보고자 한다. 먼저 오심즉여심과 다시 개벽운수의 의미에 대해서 알아보았다. 다음으로 인의예지와 비교한 수심정기의 의미에 대해서 살펴보고, 수심정기하는 법은 효제온공의 마음으로 해야 한다는 것을 알아보았다. 또한, 실천 방법으로 심고·식고·주문기도의 수도법에 대해서 살펴보았다. 결론적으로 자신에 대한 해답을 오심즉여심에서 찾을 수 있으며, 동학의 수도법은 자신을 찾을 뿐만 아니라 돈독히 하는 수도이기도 하다. 오심즉여심에서 오심은 만물의 근본인 천심이고 여심은 인심이다. 여기서 인내천 사상이 나온다. 동학 수도법의 실천 방법으로 심고는 출필고반필고의 의미이고, 식고는 반포지효의 의미이며, 주문기도는 주문에 밝혀 놓은 시천주 은덕을 염염불망하면 지기로 지극히 화하여 지극한 성인이 된다는 것을 알아보았다. 또한, 주문기도는 시천주 주문 13자로 하는 것이며, 기(氣) 수련이 아니고 성령 수련이라는 것을 알아보았다.
