This study was conducted to investigate the effect of wearing a compression vest on reducing behavioral problems in children with autism spectrum disorder. The subject of the study was a 6-year-old boy with autism spectrum disorder. The study was conducted using ABA single case study with a total of 13 sessions. During the intervention (B) period, the compression vest was worn and speech therapy was performed concurrently. The results showed that as the treatment sessions progressed, the frequency of the child's problem behaviors, such as shaking the body and head from side to side, shaking the hands in front of the eyes or from side to side, playing with the hands, bringing the hands to the mouth, and hitting both thighs with both hands, tended to decrease. Similar to previous studies on heavy vests, these results indicate that sensory integration, such as basic senses such as proprioception, vestibular sense, and tactile sense, is affected by sensory regulation due to physical pressure. Future experimental studies using compression vests should consider modifications in experimental design, recruitment of diverse target groups, and the impact on daily life. In addition, studies that suggest protocols for wearing compression vests are necessary.

본 연구는 압박조끼를 착용한 자폐스펙트럼 아동의 문제행동 감소 효과를 조사하기 위해 실시되었다. 연구 대상자 는 만 6세 남아로, 자폐스펙트럼 아동이었다. 연구는 ABA 단일사례연구를 사용하여 총 13회기의 실험으로 진행되었다. 중재(B) 기간 동안 압박조끼를 착용하고 언어치료를 병행하였다. 연구 결과, 치료 회기가 진행됨에 따라 아동의 문제행동 인 몸과 머리 좌우로 흔들기, 손을 눈앞이나 좌우에서 흔들기, 손장난 치기, 손을 입으로 가져가기, 양손으로 양 허벅지 치기의 빈도가 감소하는 경향이 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 무거운 조끼와 관련된 선행 연구와 유사하게, 기본 감각인 고유 수용성, 전정감각 및 촉각 등의 감각 통합이 신체적 압박으로 인해 감각 조절에 미치는 효과임을 알 수 있다. 추후 압박조 끼를 활용한 실험 연구에서는 실험 설계의 변형과 다양한 대상군의 모집, 그리고 일상생활에까지 미치는 영향을 고려해야 할 것이다. 또한, 압박조끼 착용 방법에 대한 프로토콜을 제시하는 연구가 필요할 것이다.
