This study examines the current state of musical translation research in Korea and China, identifying each country's distinctive features through comparison and analysis. While Korean scholar has previously reviewed musical translation research domestically and internationally, their focus on overseas studies was limited to English-language literature, overlooking China's situation. Conversely, China has yet to conduct a systematic review of prior research on musical translation. This study fills that academic gap by systematically organizing and analyzing Chinese scholarly articles on the subject. By comparing the musical translation research of both countries, we aim to provide a reference for future research between Korea and China. Our investigation revealed that both countries primarily focus on text analysis in translation research. However, China shows a tendency to concentrate on specific works more than Korea. While Korea has shown interest in musical translation education and perceives translation as a team effort involving diverse translators, China stands out with unique research topics like the translation of musical theory books and sign language translation, and tends to view musical translation as an individual task. Regarding evaluation criteria for good translations, both countries exhibit a target-text orientation, but notably, China considers the use of archaic styles in translated texts as one of the criteria.

본 연구에서는 한국과 중국의 뮤지컬 번역 연구에 대한 현황을 살펴보고 비교와 분석을 통해 각국의 특징을 규명하였다. 한국 번역학계는 과거에도 국내외 뮤지컬 번역 연구 현황에 대한 고찰이 있었지만, 해외의 선행 연구 검토는 영어권 문헌에만 국한하였고, 중국의 상황은 살피지 못하였다. 한편 중국은 현재까지 뮤지컬 번역에 대한 체계적인 선행 연구 검토가 이뤄 지지 않은 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 중국의 뮤지컬 번역 논문들을 체계적으로 정리하고 분석함으로써 해당 분야의 연구 공백을 메웠다는 점에서 일차적 의의가 있겠다. 또한 두 나라 의 뮤지컬 번역 연구들을 비교함으로써 향후 한중 뮤지컬 번역을 연구하는 데 약간의 참고가 되길 기대한다. 고찰해본 결과, 대체로 두 나라의 번역 연구는 텍스트 분석을 위주로 하지만 작품 선정에 있어서 중국은 한국에 비해 특정 작품에 편중하는 경향을 보였다. 또한 한국은 뮤지컬 번역 교육에 연구적 관심이 있었던 것에 비해 중국은 뮤지컬 이론서 번역, 수화 번역 과 같은 특색 있는 연구 주제들이 돋보였다. 그 외에도 한국에서는 뮤지컬 번역을 팀 작업으 로 인식하는 경향이 있고 번역 주체가 다양한 데 반해 중국의 경우에는 현재까지 번역 주체의 다양성이 두드러지지 않으며 뮤지컬 번역을 개인 작업으로 이해하는 경향이 있어 보인다. 또 한 좋은 번역에 대한 평가 기준에 있어서 양국 모두 TT 지향성을 보였으나 구체적으로 살펴 봤을 때, 중국은 특히 번역문에서 옛 문체를 활용하는 것을 평가 기준 중의 하나로 삼은 점이 특징적이다.
