This study aims to analyze the reconciliation attitudes toward North and South Korea held by Unification NGOs, which are voluntary associations working toward the goal of unification. Specifically, it examines the perceptions of Unification NGO activists regarding trust in North Korea, the responsibility of North Korea for the inter-Korean conflict, the sense of victimhood caused by the division of the Korean Peninsula, the intention and willingness to forgive North Korea, and the guilt regarding South Korean society's attitude towards dealing with North Korean issues. The analysis revealed that Unification NGO activists, while feeling anger toward North Korea's wrongful actions, generally do not believe in retaliation, indicating a positive reconciliation attitude towards North Korea in inter-Korean relations. Meanwhile, with respect to trust in North Korea, activists in their 20s and 30s with progressive tendencies showed a positive inclination. Activists from older generations tended to view the inter-Korean conflict as being the responsibility of North Korea. On the other hand, attitudes toward South Korean society's approach to North Korean issues were significantly influenced by factors such as generation and political orientation. Specifically, in terms of demographic background, women, as compared to men, those with higher education levels, and activists with progressive tendencies scored higher.

본 연구는 통일을 목표로 활동하는 자발적 결사체인 통일 NGO의 남북 화해태도를 분석해보고자 하였다. 구체적으로 통일 NGO 활동가들이 인식하는 북한에 대한 신뢰, 남북 갈등에 대한 북한의 책임성, 남북 분단으로 인한 피해의식, 북한을 용서할 의도와 의지, 북한문제를 다루는 남한 사회의 태도에 대한 죄책감을 분석하였다. 분석결과 통일 NGO 활동가들은 북한의 잘못된 행동에 대하여 분노하지만, 되갚아야 한다고 인식하지 않는 경향으로 남북 관계에서 북한에 대한 화해태도 인식은 긍정적임을 확인했다. 한편 북한 신뢰에 대해서는 화해태도는 20-30대의 진보성향을 가진 활동가들이 북한 신뢰에 대해 긍정적 경향을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 연령이 높은 세대의 활동가들은 남북 갈등의 문제가 북한의 책임으로 보는 경향을 보였다. 한편 북한문제를 다루는 남한 사회의 태도에 대해서는 세대, 정치성향이 유의미한 영향 요인으로 나타났다. 특히 인구학적 배경에서는 남성보다는 여성, 높은 학력, 진보성향의 활동가들이 높은 점수를 보였다. 본 연구는 통일 NGO의 남북 화해태도 인식 분석을 통해 첫째, 통일 NGO 간의 네트워크 활용 둘째, 화해를 실행할 역량 강화가 필요하다는 시사점을 도출하였다.
