This study explores the transformative learning process experienced by A, a Vietnamese marriage immigrant woman, through her self-reflective essays and interview data. The integration of marriage immigrant women into society has emerged as a critical issue in South Korea's transition to a multicultural society, and this research sheds light on this issue in depth. Grounded in Mezirow’s transformative learning theory, the study systematically analyzes A’s identity reconstruction, cultural challenges, and role redefinition as she adapted to a new culture and society. A’s self-reflective essays encompass various challenges, including linguistic and cultural differences, family relationship building, economic responsibilities, and changes in social roles. These experiences illustrate how the sequential stages of transformative learning, including critical self-reflection, exploration of alternatives, and acceptance of new roles, brought significant changes to her life. Unlike previous studies that mainly focused on external adaptation, this study provides an in-depth analysis of the internal growth and identity reconstruction of marriage immigrant women from the perspective of transformative learning. The findings emphasize the need for tailored policy support, such as customized Korean language education programs, vocational training for professional advancement, and multicultural exchange initiatives at the community level. This research offers essential foundational data to empower marriage immigrant women to play proactive roles in a multicultural society.

이 연구는 베트남계 결혼이주여성 A의 자기성찰 에세이와 인터뷰 자료를 통해 A의 주요 생애 경험 속에 나타난 전환학습 과정을 탐구한 생애사 연구이다. 결혼이주여성 의 사회적 통합은 한국이 다문화 사회로 전환되는 과정에서 중요한 과제로 부각되고 있으며, 이 연구는 이러한 문제를 심층적으로 조명한다. 연구는 Mezirow의 전환학습 이론을 바탕으로, A가 새로운 문화와 사회에 적응하는 과정에서 겪은 정체성 재구성, 문화적 도전, 역할 재정립의 과정을 체계적으로 분석하였다. A의 자기성찰 에세이는 언어적·문화적 차이, 가족과의 관계 형성, 경제적 책임, 사회적 역할 변화 등 다양한 도 전들을 포함하고 있으며, 이러한 경험들이 전환학습의 단계별 과정을 통해 자기성찰, 대안 탐색, 새로운 역할 수용을 거쳐 A의 삶에 중대한 변화를 가져왔음을 보여준다. 이 연구는 기존 연구들이 주로 외적 적응에 초점을 맞췄던 것과 달리, 결혼이주여성 의 내적 성장과 정체성 재구성을 전환학습 관점에서 심층적으로 조명하였다. 이를 통 해 결혼이주여성의 사회적 통합을 돕기 위한 맞춤형 한국어 교육 프로그램, 양질의 일 자리 진출을 지원하는 직업 훈련, 다문화 간 교류를 촉진하는 지역사회 프로그램의 필 요성을 시사한다. 이 연구는 결혼이주여성들이 다문화 사회에서 주체적 역할을 수행할 수 있도록 돕는 데 중요한 기초 자료를 제공한다.
