The purpose of this study is to analyze Park Chan-wook’s film “Decision to Leave”(2022) according to the reading of the ancient Chinese scripture Shanhaijing(山海經, Classic of Mountains and Seas). The reason I focus on “Shanhaijing” in this study is not only because the main character, Seo-rae, is Chinese, but also because the film borrows from its organization and narrative style. This study analyzes the film “Decision to Leave” by dividing it into “Shanjing(山經, Classic of Mountains)” and “Haijing(海經, Classic of Seas)” to examine the geographical features and mythological elements of the film. Although Shanhaijing(山海經) seems to play a very small role in this film, the overall organization of the film takes the form of Shanhaijing. Just as the “Haijing(海經, Classic of Seas)” recorded the stories of “others” outside the sea, this movie focuses on the stories of Haijun and the Chinese woman Seo-rae. The music, diction and other elements of this film show how the scriptures were formed and enrich their meaning. From the perspective of the Shanhaijing, the story of Seo-rae and Hae-jun is a love geography, a love scripture in which they found each other and made their way through the fog, consummating their love in a mythical way.

이 연구의 목적은 박찬욱 감독의 영화 <헤어질 결심>(2022)을 고대 중국의 경전인 산해경(山海經)의 독법에 따라 분석하는 데 있다. 이 연구에서 산해경에 주목하는 이유는 여주인공인 서래가 중국인이라는 점도 있지만, 이 영화가 산해경의 구성과 서술 방식을차용하고 있기 때문이다. 이 연구에서는 영화 <헤어질 결심>을 산해경의 구성인 ｢산경(山經)｣과 ｢해경(海經)｣으로 나누어 고찰하는 한편, 산해경의 특징적 요소인 지리서적성격과 신화적 함의를 중심으로 영화를 탐색하였다. 이 영화에서 산해경은 적은 비중을 차지하는 것 같지만, 전체적인 구성은 산해경의형식과 특징을 충분히 구현하고 있다. 산해경 ｢해경｣이 바다 바깥쪽 ‘다른 사람들’의이야기를 기록한 것처럼, 영화 <헤어질 결심>에서도 서로의 바깥쪽에 있는 해준과 중국 여성서래의 이야기에 집중한다. 이 영화에 사용된 음악인 구스타프 말러의 교향곡과 노래 <안개>, 서래가 보여주는 특유의 화법과 ‘반복적, 중첩적’ 말하기 방식, 이미지 등은 경전(經典)이형성되는 방식을 보여주는 동시에, 변주를 통해 그 의미를 한층 풍부하게 만든다. 산해경의 관점으로 서래와 해준의 이야기를 보자면, 안개에 갇힌 채 서로를 찾아 길을 만든 사랑의지리서이며, 신화적인 방식으로 그들의 사랑을 완성한 사랑의 경전이다
