This study examines the development of Korean shooting in the 1990s, a period when Korea's shooting performance began to noticeably emerge, using literature and newspaper articles. The findings reveal that the 1990s were a time of international success for Korean shooting, with major achievements at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Government and private sector support contributed to the expansion of shooting infrastructure and the introduction of systematic training programs. Notably, the gold medals won by Yeo Kab-soon and Lee Eun-chul in 1992 elevated Korea’s international standing in shooting. These accomplishments show that the 1990s were a crucial period, significantly impacting domestic sports culture, the popularization of shooting sports, and the nurturing of future generations of athletes.

본 연구는 우리나라 사격의 성과가 눈에 띄게 드러나기 시작했던 시 기인 1990년대 사격의 전개 과정을 문헌과 신문 기사 등을 활용하여 고 찰하고, 당시의 과정이 우리나라 사격의 역사적 행보에 어떠한 의미가 있는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 1992년 바 르셀로나 올림픽에서 여갑순, 이은철 선수의 금메달 획득은 우리나라 사 격 역사의 첫 번째 기록으로써 의의가 있다. 둘째, 첨단 훈련 장비의 도 입과 과학적 훈련의 활용은 기록향상에 도움이 됐다. 셋째, 1990년대 초 반 부족했던 사격 인프라를 점차 확대한다. 넷째, 국가대표 지도자와 선 수 선발의 중요성이 대두됐다. 이를 바탕으로 1990년대 우리나라 사격은 국내 사격 스포츠의 대중화와 후속 세대 양성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치 게 되는 중요한 시기라고 할 수 있다.
