The purpose of this study is to reflect on and forecast the 20th anniversary of the Korean Society for Sports Anthropology. The research method involved analyzing issues from the inaugural issue of the Journal of Sports Anthropology to Volume 19, Issue 3, and exploring related analyses. The results are as follows: First, the reflections are as follows: 1) The academic identity for the journal, 2) University courses and sports anthropology, 3) The shortage of specialized professors and students, 4) The absence of graduate students majoring in sports anthropology, 5) The academic status and role within physical education. Second, the prospects are as follows: 1) The Journal of Sports Anthropology as a listed journal, 2) Expanding the number of academic conferences from two to four, 3) Producing specialized professors in sports anthropology, 4) Participation and roles in the Asian Society of Sports Anthropology, 5) The need for translation of specialized books and publication of monographs.

이 연구의 목적은 한국스포츠인류학회 20년의 성찰과 전망을 알아보 는 것이다. 한국스포츠인류학회는 2003년 9월 29일에 창립하였다. 이 학 회는 체육 및 스포츠 인류학 분야의 학문적 연구와 발전을 목표로 하고 있다. 학회는 정기적으로 연 2회의 학술대회를 개최하며, 연 4회의 한국 연구재단 등재 학술지를 발간하여 연구 성과를 공유하고 있다. 연구 방 법은 스포츠인류학연구 창간호부터 제19권 제3호까지 분석하였고, 관련 문헌을 탐구하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국스포츠인류학회 20년의 성찰은 다음과 같다. 1) 스포츠인류학의 확산과 발전, 2) 교과목 으로서 스포츠인류학, 3) 전문연구자의 부족, 4) 스포츠인류학연구 등재 지 선정 5) 체육학에서 학문적 위상과 역할 등이다. 학문이 발전하기 위 해서는 전문학회와 전공 교수 그리고 교과목이 개설되어야 한다. 둘째, 한국스포츠인류학회의 전망은 다음과 같다. 1) 연구자의 연구역량 강화, 2) 스포츠인류학연구 KCI 등재지 유지, 3) 학술대회 2회에서 4회로 확대, 4) 아시아스포츠인류학회 참여 및 역할, 5) 전문 도서 번역과 단행본 출 판 등이 필요하다.
