This study aimed to identify the causes and pathways of adolescent depression based on the theory of cumulative advantage-disadvantage. Using data from the 2021 Youth Social and Economic Status Survey by the National Youth Policy Institute of Korea, an analysis was conducted on 2,041 individuals aged 18 to 34. The main findings confirmed a significant triple mediation effect of adverse experiences in adolescence, material deprivation, and social isolation in the relationship between adverse childhood experiences and adolescent depression. Based on these findings, interventions to reduce levels of adolescent depression are discussed.

본 연구는 누적적 이익-불이익 이론에 근거하여 청년기 우울의 원인과 경로를 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원의 2021년 청년사회·경제실태조사 자료를 활용하여 만 18세 이상 34세 이하인 청년기 2,041명을 대상으로 분석을 실시하였다. 주요 결과, 아동기 부정적 경험이 청년기 우울에 영향을 미치는 관계에서 청년기 부정적 경험, 물질적 박탈, 사회적 고립의 삼중 매개효과가 유의한 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 청년기 우울 수준을 낮추기 위한 개입 방안에 대해 논의하였다.
