The study examines the characteristics of sermon messages of the pastors who have planted churches and succeeded in self-reliance, by means of the analysis of their early year’s sermon texts, and examines the correlation between the sermon message and the self-reliance of planted churches. In other words, the study is a fusion study linking preaching and church growth. The study verifies the effect of the sermon message on the audience. If a specific message is supposed to influence the self-reliance of a particular planted church, it is to mean that message’s influence on the audience. Since preaching is a complex act composed of various elements, all elements of preaching should be reviewed in order to understand the impact of preaching on the audience. But the study inspects whether there is a sermon message effective for planted churches’s self-reliance, that is, suitable for plated church’s audiences. The purpose of the study, however, is not just to estimate the correlation between preaching message and church growth. By analyzing what kind of messages the pastors of planted churches tried to communicate and what their characteristics were, it is also to understand the preaching theology of church planting pastors and to estimate theological ideas formed in the consciousness of the congregations of planted churches. The study provides a research method to meet the above research objectives. The study relies on the interviews with planted self-aided church pastors, on the one hand, and the analyses of their early sermon manuscripts, on the other. Of course, the primary method is to analyze the sermon manuscripts. To this end, seven churches that were recently planted and succeeded in self-reliance in the Cheonan Asan area, an urban area in the central part of South Korea, were selected, and the entire second-year sermon manuscripts of each church’s pastor were collected for in-depth analyses and message classification.

본 연구는 개척하여 자립에 성공한 목회자들의 설교 메시지 분석을 통해, 개척에 도전한 목회자들의 설교 메시지의 특성을 알아보고, 설교 메시지와 개척교회 자립 사 이의 상관관계를 검토한다. 즉 본 연구는 설교와 교회성장을 연계한 융복합 연구이다. 본 연구는 기본적으로 설교 메시지가 청중에게 미치는 영향을 검증한다. 특정 메시지 가 개척교회 자립에 영향을 미쳤다면 이는 메시지가 청중에게 미치는 영향력의 사례 가 되기 때문이다. 역으로 이는 개척교회의 자립을 위해 설교자들이 고려해야 할 설 교 메시지는 어떠해야 하는지를 제시하게 된다. 설교는 다양한 요소들로 구성되어 있 는 복합적 행위이기 때문에, 설교가 청중에게 미치는 영향을 이해하려면 설교의 모든 요소들을 검토해야 하겠으나, 본 연구는 개척교회가 자립하는 데 효과적인, 즉 개척교 회 청중에게 적합한 설교 메시지가 있는지를 검증한다. 그러나 본 연구는 단지 설교메지지와 교회성장의 상관관계를 추정하는 것만을 목적으로 하지 않는다. 개척자립교 회 목회자들이 초기에 전달하려 했던 메시지가 어떤 것이며 그 특징이 무엇인지 분석 함으로써, 교회개척 목회자들의 설교신학을 이해하고, 이를 통해 개척교회 교인들의 의식에서 형성되는 신학적 관념들을 추정해 보기 위함이기도 하다. 본 연구는 위와 같은 연구목적에 부합토록 연구방법을 기획하였다. 본 연구는 개척자립교회 목회자들 의 면담, 개척자립교회 목회자들의 개척 초기 설교원고 수집 및 분석에 의존하였다. 특히 개척자립교회 목회자들의 설교원고를 분석하는 것이 가장 중심적 방법이다. 이 를 위해 한국의 중부권 도시지역인 천안아산권에서 근래에 개척하여 자립에 성공한, 범교단 7개 교회를 선정하여 해당 교회 목회자들의 개척 2년차의 1년분 설교원고를 심층 분석하여, 각 목회자의 메시지 종류를 대조 비교 분류하는 방법을 취하였다.
