The 1920s and 1930s were a period of significant development in Sunday school education within the Korean church. This study examines the Bible story, that is Bible storytelling materials from this period in the history of Korean Sunday schools, aiming to investigate how ‘storytelling education’ also influenced the development of children’s literature. In particular, the study analyzes the role of children’s literature in the magazine 『Children’s Life』and conducts a comparative analysis of two key textbooks, 『Storytelling Method』(1927) and 『Shinseon Storytelling Method』(1934), which are interrelated with Sunday school education. By comparing and analyzing the authors and the core contents of the two textbooks from various angles, we examined their impact on children’s literature and Sunday school education in depth. Through this, we explored how children’s literature and Sunday school education interacted and developed at the time. Furthermore, the study examines how Storytelling Method and Shinseon Storytelling Method were utilized as educational tools to effectively deliver Bible storytelling, and investigates their influence as foundational resources in Korean children’s literature and Christian education. Finally, based on these findings, the study proposes methodologies for applying these textbooks to modern Sunday school education. This research seeks to re-evaluate the historical significance of Sunday school materials, enhance their practical applicability in contemporary educational settings, and promote the continued development of Sunday school education.

1920-30년대는 한국 교회가 주일학교교육에서 큰 발전을 이루던 시기였다. 본 연구는 이 시기의 한국 주일학교 역사에 나타난 성경 이야기 즉, ‘바이블스토리텔링’교재를 비교 연구하여,‘ 동화교육’이 아 동문학의 발전에도 영향을 미쳤음을 규명하고자 하였다. 특히, 주일학 교교육과 상호 관련성을 가진『아이생활』잡지의 아동문학적 역할과 『동화연구법』(1927년) 및『신선동화법』(1934년) 두 교재를 비교 분석 하였다. 두 교재의 저자와 핵심 내용을 다각도로 비교 분석함으로써, 이들이 아동문학과 주일학교교육에 미친 영향을 깊이 있게 살펴보았 다. 이를 통해 당시 아동 문학과 주일학교교육이 어떻게 상호작용하며 발전했는지를 탐구하였다. 또한, 연구자는『동화연구법』과 『신선동화법』이 ‘바이블스토리텔링’을 효과적으로 전달하는 교육방법으로 어떻 게 활용되었는지를 분석하고, 이 두 저서가 한국 아동문학과 기독교교육의 기초 자료로서 미친 영향을 탐구하였다. 마지막으로, 이를 통해 현대 주일학교교육에 적용 가능한 방법론을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 주일학교 교육교재의 역사적 의미를 재조명하여, 현대 교 육 현장에서 실제로 적용될 수 있는 가능성을 높이고, 주일학교교육의 발전을 도모하고자 한다.
