Hwang In-sook is a poet who has been debuting for 40 years and she has her own world of poetry. She has published nine volumes of poetry, and the works are divided into two periods. This study aims to examine the transformation patterns of works and analyze the motive of poetry creation. The key characteristics of change are tone, persona, and distance adjustment. It was a light tone in the first half, but it changed to a calm tone in the second half. The persona in the first half is mired in existentialist worries and then overcomes in the second half. In the first half, the poet tries to adjust the distance from the people around her and later to show solidarity and empathy. The reason for this change is that there has been a change in her daily life. Hwang In-sook has been feeding street cats since 2005. This period also coincides with the changes in the works. The fact that the attitude of life has changed while living with the cats can be confirmed in her poems and essays. Living with the cats, her tone became calm, she eased existentialist worries, and she became empathetic with others. If there is an opportunity to study Hwang In-sook's essays and novels in the future, we will be able to discover the literary value of living together.

올해로 등단 40주년이 되는 황인숙은 문단 내 독보적인 영역을 구축하여 주목받아온 시인이다. 그간 출간된 아홉 권의 시집을 살펴보면 시적 양상이 변모하고 있는 사실을 확인하게 된다. 이에 주목하여 그 변화양상을 고찰하고 시적 동인을 분석하는 것에 연구의 목표를 두었다. 변화의 핵심적인 특성은 어조, 화자, 거리조정의 측면에서 살필 수 있었다. 전반기에 경조(輕佻)한 요설로 내닫던 어조는 후반기에 오면서 차분하게 바뀌고 있다. 존재론적 근심에 빠져 있던 화자는 후기로 오면서 자아의 확장을 통하여 긍정적 태도를 되찾는 모습을 보여준다. 주변으로 밀려난 인물에 주목하는 시인의 감수성은 전반기에는 거리조정을 통하여 객관화되고 있으나 이후에는 연대와 공감으로 전환하고 있다. 시적 변모의 원인은 일상에 일어난 변화에서 찾을 수 있었다. 황인숙은 2005년 즈음부터 길고양이에게 밥을 주기 시작하였는데 시기적으로 시의 전후기 분기점과 일치하는 면이 있다. 시인이 고양이와 더불어 살면서 삶의 태도에 변화가 일어났다는 사실은 다수의 시와 산문을 통하여 확인할 수 있었다. 고양이와의 삶이 시적 동인이 되어 작품에서 차분한 어조와 존재론적 확장과 연대의 가능성을 확보하게 한 것이다. 앞으로 이 논의를 연장하여 황인숙 시인의 수많은 수필과 소설까지 함께 고찰하게 된다면 타자와 더불어 사는 삶의 의미를 문학적 성취와 연결하여 발전적으로 연구할 수 있을 것이다.
