The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that may affect the housing satisfaction of foreign workers by age group and to examine the relationship between these factors and housing satisfaction. For this purpose, data from the 2020 Survey of Foreign Workers conducted by the Korea Institute of Health and Social Affairs were used in the analysis. The factors that can affect housing satisfaction were categorized into personal characteristics, housing environment characteristics, and community environment characteristics, and the results of each factor were examined through regression analysis. As a result of the analysis, differences were found in the factors affecting housing satisfaction among young, middle-aged, and elderly people. First, the structural condition of the house was the most important factor affecting housing satisfaction among young and middle-aged people. On the other hand, the safety of the home, such as security from outside intrusion, was a more important factor for the elderly. In terms of community environment factors, younger and middle-aged people placed more value on neighborhood relationships, while older people placed more value on a safe community environment. Based on the findings of this study, policy implications are suggested for resolving housing insecurity and increasing housing satisfaction of foreign workers.

본 연구의 목적은 외국인노동자의 주거만족도에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 요인들을 연령대별로 탐색하고 해당요인들이 주거만족도와 어떠한 관계를 갖는지 살펴보 는 것이다. 이를 위해 분석에 2020년 한국보건사회연구원에서 실시한 외국인근 로자실태조사 데이터를 분석에 활용하였다. 주거만족도에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 요 인을 개인적 특성, 주택환경 특성, 지역사회환경적 특성으로 구분하고, 각 요인의 결과를 회귀분석 방법을 통해 살펴보았다. 분석 결과, 주택환경요인에서 청년층, 중장년층, 노년층의 주거만족도 영향요인에 차이가 발견되었는데, 먼저 청년층과 중년층은 집의 구조물 상태가 주거만족도에 가장 큰 영향요인이었다. 이에 반해 노년층은 외부 침입으로부터의 보안과 같은 주택의 안전성이 주거만족도에 보다 큰 영향요인으로 작용하였다. 지역사회환경요인에서는 청년과 중장년층은 이웃 관계에 보다 큰 가치를 두었고, 노년층은 안전한 지역사회환경에 더 큰 가치를 두 고 있었다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 외국인노동자의 주거불안 해소 및 주거만족 도를 높이기 위한 정책적 함의를 제시하였다.
